SAGE 2001: Kulock’s Booth

SAGE 2001: Kulock’s Booth

by March 11, 2001

The booth officially opened yesterday, and new information about Sonic 3D, Kulock’s new SFG. It is in pseudo-3D, as Kulock explains:

Sonic 3D was actually started a while ago, in fact, the oldest project I’m still pursuing. It was an effort in CnC to use some planning and visual tricks (much like those used in Genesis racing games) to allow a psuedo-3D engine, much like the half-pipes in Sonic 2. I came up with a lot of the concepts on my own, and learned a bit from the then-quite-impressive (technically) “Search for Knuckles” demo. I also had a lot of beginning CnC user help from Chris_A/Mantrid.

Features included will be, as it is called, “Organized Levels,”, 3D mazes, scenes recreated from SA, the Sonic ANIME, and SCD, and the potential for playing online. One screenshot is available from the Sand Speedway demo (currently unreleased to the public) and more information is expected to pop up at Kulock’s booth as early as later tonight.
