Wii Still Selling Out in Droves
Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime sat down with Wired Magazine today to give them a sort of “State of the Wii” address.
Most notable from his mouth is something we could have told you: The Wii is still selling out after its launch. The Americas only get 40 percent of the 1.8 million consoles manufactured every month by Nintendo, and it’s HQ at Japan that determines the ration. Apparently, Japan and Europe don’t share the same supply issues.
Fils-Aime also told Wired that, on average, a Nintendo Wii console only sits on a store shelf for an hour. Again, there’s probably no need to say that to the millions still clamoring for one, only to show up in the 61st minute.
There’s no word on when or how Nintendo or Fils-Aime would try to accommodate continued demand.
