Illegal Import Release for 360 a Week Before Launch

There’s something to be said for patience.

Then again, given the instant gratification nature that society thrives on these days pared with the fever pitch that’s expected to come with the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, it may be no surprise that someone has leaked the final game to the masses.  A group named iCON has purportedly dubbed a copy and posted it online.  Where it came from is anyone’s guess.

There are some caveats, according to Kotaku.  For starters, it’s illegal…but it’s also a PAL copy, with an NTSC edition promised by iCON before launch day.  In addition, this is only an XBOX360 copy.

The legitimacy of the leak may be validated by recent YouTube videos showing GTAIV gameplay, which were promptly taken down on copyright requests.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas endured similar piracy treatment in its lead-up to launch day.
