Dump comes Hours After PAL Leak; Also Exclusive PAL Information
Well, that didn’t take long.
Hours after we reported the PAL version of Grand Theft Auto IV for the XBOX360 being pirated to the masses on the Internet, the NTSC version for the same console has surfaced.
This comes from a different group, calling themselves 101. Kotaku reports that at least 20,000 have already begun downloading, torrenting, and otherwise obtaining the leak illegally. 101 writes of the dump:
We weren’t sure that anyone was waiting for this one, so we took our time with it. Hope you don’t mind! Still, five days early ain’t bad is it? Enjoy.
Tested this on our Xbox 360 and it worked fine (burned). Stealth, of course. We advise you don’t try to play this game online, especially Rockstar claimed to be monitoring it; if they’re full of sh*t we don’t know, but not worth the risk.
Buy this game. It rocks, and is worth every penny. Seriously.
In addition, we have an update to the PAL leak. TSSZ News can confirm via the Sonic Retro forums that the previously leaked PAL edition of GTAIV had a region lock. This would normally go without saying since it’s a PAL variant, but many consoles are country/continent specific these days, so that version may only work in a few PAL countries. We can only assume the same goes for the NTSC edition–that it may only work on North America consoles, or only on Japanese consoles.
There’s still no comment from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive yet on these leaks. Take-Two was banking on at least a $400 million launch week for the flagship title.
