Kojima Prod: MGS4 Cutscene Length “Exaggeration”

Statement Released Contradicts Early Reviews

Konami’s been in a bit of a boiling pot lately.  The release of Metal Gear Solid 4–and the restrictions put on media groups reviewing it–has come under scrutiny, so much so that EGM opted to not formally review it.

At issue, among other items, is the reported cutscene length.  European magazines such as EDGE have clocked some of them in to be 90 minutes.  But Kojima Productions says that’s not the case.

Assistant Producer Ryan Payton spoke to Kotaku.com on the matter, saying:

I’m surprised nobody has stepped forward to debunk this rumor. There are no 90 minute cutscenes in MGS4. The ending is long, but 90 minutes is a gross exaggeration.

And here I thought gamers liked long endings!

Gamers will know for sure when Metal Gear Solid 4 is out next week.
