Arcade Model now Cheaper than Wii Down Under
This could be a sign of things to come in the rest of the world.
Microsoft’s Australian division has dropped the prices of all three XBOX 360 models. The most noteworthy drop is the cheapest “Arcade” model, which is now down to AU$349. That’s a $50 drop and officially makes the model more than $50 cheaper than the Nintendo Wii, which retails in Australia for AU$400.
The other XBOX360 models received a drop as well. The Pro model goes down to AU$499, a $180 drop, and the Elite model drops to AU$649, an $80 drop.
While Microsoft gives specific regions the power to drop prices independent of the rest of the world, you can’t help but wonder, with the recent rumors, if this is the first of several price drops worldwide for the XBOX360 leading up to E3 in less than two weeks. We will keep a close eye on retailers in the coming days.
