Sonic Unleashed to have RPG Upgrade System?

Portuguese Mag Claims RPG Style; Fans Dispute

There is more new information regarding Sonic Unleashed, this time from Portuguese magazine Maxi Consolas.

A lot of the information–like the China and New York stages, and the inclusion of Tails–we had First @ TSSZ.  However, there is one new tidbit, and that’s the inclusion of an upgrade system.  It’s not necessarily the inclusion of it that’s new, it’s Maxi Consolas’s description of it being in an RPG style.

This disputes some previous reports that indicated the upgrades would be in a more simplistic style, such as from Sonic Adventure or Sonic and the Secret Rings.  A few have called the story out.  Phos from the Sonic Retro forums wrote on the matter:

I think the character building might be somewhat of a mistranslation/ misinterpretation. I remember in an interview that the guy in charge said that there would be Sonic Adventure style upgrades that Sonic will find. And the minigames don’t sound so bad yet, unless it turns out that by “minigame”, they mean 66% of the total game. They have said in interviews that you play as Sonic 90% of the time, though. And supposedly this game has zero multiplayer.

Still, FinalBeyond on the same board wrote:

Levelling (sic) up. First bad news I’ve heard about the game. Hopefully they’ll make it somewhat tolerable.

There looks to be a steady stream of information on Unleashed all the way to E3.  Stay with TSSZ News for the latest information with added depth and reaction.

Maybe you collect the upgrades Sonic Adventure style and level them up further with RPG style?
