2.40 Update Bricked Systems; Pulled Suddenly by Sony
Sony apparently has the kinks worked out.
The company posted its 2.41 firmware update for Playstation 3 consoles early this morning. The fix came after numerous reports of problems with the previous 2.40 release, including systems failing.
Firmware version 2.40 was meant to be a major upgrade for PS3 users, with the inclusion of trophies, expanded profiles, and XMB within games, among other items. When problems surfaced, Sony suddenly removed the upgrade from its servers without warning or official explanation.
