Will Other Characters Cross Paths in Unleashed?

New Article Suggests Possibility; More Sega Cover-Ups

This story crossed our desks just minutes ago, and it is First @ TSSZ.

A new report from GamesTM Magazine suggests another Sega screwup that could lead to some serious revelations as to whether Sonic Unleashed really only contains 95% Sonic (including his presumed alter ego Were-Sonic.)

Reportedly, when magazine staff was demoed Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Team’s debugger went awry, as a result, the magazine saw Amy Rose, presumably in some playable form.  According to the article, staff quickly tried to cover up the scene:

During the presentation, something went wrong with Sonic Team’s debug machine and we caught a glimpse of Amy Rose - something we were not supposed to see. Afterward, Hashimoto confirmed that other characters do appear in the game, but are ‘mostly’ consigned to mini-games.

It is not clear whether Amy showed up during a mini-game or during the bulk of gameplay.  If the latter, this gives a bit more steam to rumors stemming from previous sightings of Amy in a cutscene–also from a Sega screwup.  Indeed, this could be Sega going back on its word.

The report suggests more characters in the Sonic universe will show up, perhaps as playable characters.  We already know Tails will make some form of an appearance, but it’s still unclear to what extent “mostly” means with regard to playability in mini-games as opposed to the main quest.

This is a developing story and the way Sega’s been going, we’re sure to get clarifying information in the coming days as E3 begins.  We’ve been breaking news on Sonic Unleashed before anyone else all night–stay with us for more.
