But MS Confirms New Halo Game on the Way
Bungie’s countdown clock on its website was meant to reveal something big during the E3 Media and Business Summit this week.
However, when the clock hit zero, all gamers got was this announcement:
For the last several months, we’ve been building toward a reveal of something exciting that Bungie is working on. We were looking forward to sharing that with our fan community during the week of E3. However, those plans were just changed by our publisher.
We realize that many of our fans are disappointed by this turn of events; members of the Bungie team share that disappointment.
When the right time comes, we look forward to sharing this exciting announcement with you. Until then, we appreciate your continued support and patience.
Bungie faithful were not happy. Indeed, Bungie’s Luke Smith even went so far as to do some damage control on the NeoGAF forums, assuring the community that the note was legitimate, and that this was not a continued marketing tactic. Several reactions from fans speculated as to whether it was, in order to keep interest at a high.
It gets better. In several confirmed reports, Microsoft representatives have told the gaming press that Bungie is indeed working on another installment in the Halo franchise–not Halo Wars, not the Peter Jackson Halo Chronicles–a third title. MS wouldn’t speak further, and we probably won’t get any more details during this expo. We can only hope.
