Bungie Announcement to Get Own Event

The controversy surrounding Bungie’s sudden reversal on a promised big announcement during E3 has taken another turn.

An article in the Los Angeles Times explains that the primary reason for the Bungie blunder was…time.  An interview with Don Mattrick, senior VP of XBOX games for Microsoft reveals that, originally with the Bungie news, Microsoft’s presser on Monday would have run over two and a half hours.  Omitting it brought the event to under an hour and a half.

“We had an embarrassment of riches,” Mr. Mattrick told the LA times.  “We felt we could do this game more justice with a more dedicated event.”

Mr. Mattrick did not give details on when that event would take place, or what it would show.  However, if the event is being headed by Microsoft, it is a safe bet to assume the new game will be Halo related in some form.
