Original Source of Leak is Off the Web
The source of these explosive photos may not be around the Internet to give us new information for a while.
Web site Gamer actually attempted to get in touch with the original scanner of the Nintendo Power magazine cover which has such much widespread disappointment in the Sonic community. We reported the identity of him to be “The Great L” over on the Sonic Stadium forums.
This is what Gamer found out:
We contacted the user from forum, but unfortunately couldn’t get a hold of him, because…well his parents answered. They felt understandably uncomfortable about talking and had no comment. Which would make me believe even more that this could be real. If he’s not allowed to talk on the phone, then how could he do a Photoshop like that?
If true, it could mean no one gets their hands on additional information or what’s inside the cover until he returns, someone else nabs a copy, or someone gets confirmation directly from Sega or Nintendo Power. We are working on all of those fronts to get you the latest information, and as soon as we know something, know that we will bring it to you as quickly as possible.

you know, i think that the gamer who called his house could be charged with harassment simply on the fact that he called up someone that he DIDN’T KNOW just to confirm that something is real…… not to mention that’s kinda dangerous all on it’s own, don’t you people think before you pull stunts like that - -’
I feel that the parents maybe overprotective, and maybe thought TSS were just complete strangers. Maybe you can ask Nintendo Power about it, if you haven’t already.
