New SAGE Information Revealed On Thread

New thread about the upcoming Sonic Amateur Game Expo reveals games, events, special guests…

Shadix, promotionals director and corunner of SAGE 2008, has just revealed new information on his SFGHQ thread dedicated to the event. The thread reveals what games will be on display at SAGE, and also who will be this year’s special guest:

The Games: Sonic Nexus, Super Mario Kingdoms, Sonic Frenzy Adventure, Sonic Time Twisted, and The White Box

Sonic Nexus: A game being equipped with a new, revolutionary C-based engine. It’s promised to be one of the most accurate and entertaining interpretation of a classic Sonic experience. It’s being developed by Slingerland, Damizean, and Dimensionwarped.

Super Mario Kingdoms: Sonic XG creator Nitemare is developing this Mario-themed fangame, showing us that SAGE is about more then just Sonic.

Sonic Frenzy Adventure: After a long development, Blue Frenzy targets a winter release for this cult favorite. A new playable version is expected soon.

Sonic Time Twisted: Expect to experience full-zone changing in this time traveling Sonic game, inspired by Sonic CD. Overbound is currently developing it.

The White Box: Not to be confused as The Orange Box, it will be a similar experience though. Developed by HuePow00, the game will feature 3 games just like Valve’s Orange Box. It’ll feature three different games using RPG Maker 2000\2003.

Special Guest Appearance by Ryan Drummond: After appearing last year at SAGE, the former official Sonic voice actor is going to make a second appearance. Time and date will be announced later, but start thinking of good questions to ask him in the chat room.

SAGE Workshops: So far we haven’t been given official word, but they do have some suggestions, such as rom hacking, level design theories, background designing, spriting, modeling, and programming. The workshop will hopefully help people learn new fan game creation techniques.

SAGECasts: Want to register for your own slot, visit the page for more information if you have a band of your own for a concert, or want to do some sort of comedy skit or join in on the karaoke?

COMPETITIONS: Complete your game by August 8th and get spotlighted on the SAGE website. There will also be a Remix Competition, which will involve remixing a tune from Sonic CD, which results of the winner will then be published on the music section as well as the actual remixes. Prizes have yet to be announced for this event.

Of course, I can only tell you so much about SAGE, head to the actual thread to find out more information on the event! Also check out the recently revealed YouTube teaser we recently reported on. Booth registration begins from August 4th through 8th, while the actual event will be held from August 17th through the 23rd.
