Mario ‘Best Game Ever’ Claims Poll

…Beats Sonic to the top spot. Top 20 Games of All Time
Super Mario Bros has been voted “The Best Game of All Time” in a poll held by www.onepoll.com. 2000 British games were quizzed and along with Mario a few other classic games scored high on the list. Pacman and Tetris came second and third respectively with The Sims taking the number four spot.
Our beloved blue blur Sonic took 5th place on the list with ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’, presumably the Megadrive classic and not the ‘Next Gen’ game of the same name. The full top 20 is as follows:

Thats all well and good but if this was such a decisive poll how come I never heard about it? Did you? Discuss!

I can understand Mario, Pacman, and Tetris beating Sonic,
but The Sims?
What the fuck?
The Sims is quite literally the best-selling PC game of all time, with something like 16 million copies sold by 2005. And that’s not counting the expansion packs, the sequels, and the gi-freaking-gantic community dedicated to it. It beating Sonic is really no surprise.
What? our poor hedgehog got kicked in the ass, seriously ,I cant believe The Sims beat Sonic… that sucks! oh well at least he is in the top 5 of all time! but really if this was such a decisive poll how come I never heard about it?
Personally, I don’t put stock in online pollsters anymore. They have a nasty habit skewing data for the most trite reasons (for example, one list naming the greatest sidekick of all time chose Yoshi over Tails SOLELY on the basis of a two foot tongue)
I don’t know about this list, I like Mario and all, but that image above just got on my nerves. Poor Sonic.
Biafra Republic, I’ll leave it to the imagination why certain female gamers might choose Yoshi over Tails based on the trait you mentioned… (is that too blue for this site?)
Andrew Paulson, I like Sonic as much as the next man but that image was fun to make. It’s all swings and roundabouts. I remember Sonic winning a ‘best videogame character’ poll a while ago. I remember lots of Nintendo fans saying they’d never heard of the poll… much like I’d never heard of this one!
