SAGE ‘08: New Super Mario Kingdoms Video

The Sonic Amateur Games Expo isn’t just for Sonic fan games.  A few examples from other franchises will make it into the mix next week.

One of the most promising from the “other” franchises is Super Mario Kingdoms. Created by Nitemare, the finished product will feature eight worlds connected together via a pipe overworld motif, as well as the standard “Bowser kidnaps Princess” storyline.  Those mechanics aren’t anything special, but what’s expected to be is the gameplay, which looks pretty well polished and quite faithful to the 2D Mario franchises.

You can have a look at the first level’s fluid gameplay below.  There will be a demo of Super Mario Kingdoms at SAGE, and rest assured we’ll have a play at it, as well as every other title at the expo next week.
