GameSpy’s Impressions of Sonic Unleashed

Andrew Paulson | August 20, 2008

“Sonic fans might finally be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Earlier today I posted UK IGN’s Sonic Unleashed impressions, which didn’t show many positive thoughts in their entire article. It seems GameSpy agreed on one thing that IGN UK mentioned, the framerate slows down a tad too much at times. But besides that, GameSpy came away with a much more positive outlook after giving Sonic Unleashed a try at Leipzig Games Convention in Germany.

The visuals are nice and crisp, with sweet effects, and the new Hedgehog Engine does its work just fine in bringing Sonic to life on PS3 and Xbox 360. Graphics are good, controls are perfect, but the framerate needs some more adjustment. During the daytime levels we played in Leipzig it sometimes fell. Still, we’re pretty sure that Sega will finally give us a good Sonic game again, and we’ll know for sure when Unleashed hits the shelves this fall.

Even though Sonic Unleashed has gotten many complaints about the framerate, it seems the daytime and nighttime gameplay is coming along nicely. Check out the full article over at GameSpy.

Wow, Gamespy actually said nice things about a game. That’s a first. I’m getting more and more excited for this!!

I’m taking GameSpy a little more seriously when it comes to Sonic Unleashed, it just seems IGN didn’t “want” to like the game, even if they say so in their article.

this is great news they said the controls and camera is perfect i’m gonna go with Gamespy on this one IGN’s preview seemed more personal rather than just playing the game they only mentioned the bad not the good but for now i’m happy to see that the control are perfect and camera works great (one of the 2 major problems of the sonic franchise)

Tighten up the frame rate, then we could have something awesome. <3
