Uk’s Official Nintendo Magazine to have comments on the Wii version in a upcoming issue…

Thanks to Shadzter from The Sonic Stadium for bringing this to my attention, it looks like Chris from UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine will get a chance to play the Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed in one to two weeks. So far the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed has been shown in motion and given to the press to try out. The biggest complaint has been the below-average framerate, Chris was also able to try out the 360 version:

Unfortunately the Wii version wasn’t working but I was assured that other than the obvious graphical limitations, it’s exactly the same game as the 360 version with exactly the same levels, so I played that instead. I can’t talk about the graphics obviously, but the controls are great: it reminded me of the first Sonic Adventure because you actually have some control over Sonic now and it’s not so frustrating. Finally, a good Sonic 3D platformer! Um, except the werehog sections. I didn’t like those so much. They seemed too basic and slow. Anyway, not bad at all.

On a Official Nintendo Magazine discussion board, Chris mentioned that he’ll be able to go hands-on with the Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed:

Aye, naturally the controls will be slightly different. What I mean is that the basic game and levels will be the same on each version.

I don’t know what the Wii controls are as yet because I didn’t go hands on with it. I believe it’s movement with the analogue stick though. I’ll be getting to play it in a week or two so I’ll let you know.

Incidentally, a couple of people have mentioned to me that other sites have complained about the 360 version’s framerate. This game is still in early stages of development: please don’t think for a second that the finished game

He mentions that the basic game levels will be exactly the same, while the controls will show the difference in each version. Considering there are two different developing teams making the Xbox 360/PS3 and Wii/PS2 versions, I doubt each level will be exactly the same in terms of gameplay and layout. Stick around TSSZ News as we keep track of what upcoming ONM issue will feature the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed!
