Arcade Model now Under $200
When one considers the shortages that still exist in Japan presently over the XBOX 360, it would be easy to think supply and demand rules would apply and that Microsoft’s console in the land of the rising sun would at least stay steady.
Instead, Microsoft’s chosen to slash prices as much as 30 percent.
A report on Forbes indicates all models will see a cut. The Arcade model will see a drop to the equivalent of $182, while the Pro model goes to $274 and the Elite to $367.
Not only is the Arcade model now much cheaper than Nintendo’s Wii in Japan…all prices are lower than that MS is selling the systems for in America.
For now, analysts believe the move is an attempt to directly compete with Wii.
Meanwhile, retailers stateside are gearing up for a potential price cut of the XBOX 360. It is expected in the next week that at least the new 60GB Pro Model will see a price drop to $299.
