First Details on Sonic Chronicles Storyline

Direct from the Manual, Echidna Tribes Collide

We are getting our first glimpse into the base storyline of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood thanks to our friends at French Sonic site Planete-Sonic.

You can read the original French via the link above if you desire, but what follows is a sort of cleaned up translation from what webmaster Kendo says is directly from the Chronicles manual.  There appears to be an element of the past–that being a clash of echidna clans–playing with the current, somewhat peaceful Sonic universe, and that’s where the conflict arises.

4000 years ago, the two rival clans of the dominant race Echidna lived side by side in relative harmony. The fragile peace that persisted between the two clans for centuries threatened to be broken at any time. The borders of the empire of Knuckles Clan and the Clan Nocturnus began to encroach one on the other, and neither side is ready to cede the slightest piece of territory.

In the war for expansion that followed, an unforeseen cataclysm caused the fall of Clan of Knuckles, raising Angel Island from the surface of the Earth. The Clan Nocturnus did not experienced a much better fate: the entire clan disappeared, taking with it everything that was associated. Nobody  has been seen since. All traces of the existence of Clan Nocturnus have now been eliminated, with the exception of a small robotic survivor, its name lost in history.

On the other hand, time has elapsed since the crushing defeat of Eggman at the hands of Sonic and his friends. Nobody has reunited thereafter, and they are presumed disappeared forever. Without any chaos and terror that mad scientist liked to spread, the world has become pleasant, quiet and prosperous.

Sonic, meanwhile, spent most of his time to explore the farthest corners of the planet, since it no longer has to play super-hero who saves the world. His wanderings have been suddenly interrupted when he received a call from Tails on the frequency reserved for emergencies. Central City is in turmoil, while Knuckles has been kidnapped!

Sonic and his friends are able to discover that the events of the past can still influence the future. Could it be that there is a link between the fate of the two echidna clans and the problems Knuckles is facing today?

If you click the link we’ve provided you’ll also see a treasure trove of new images from the Bioware developed RPG.  We’re working to bring those over here in due course–hopefully by later tonight.

YES,YES and YES.I know Sonic Chronicles would not let me down, this is beyond fantastic, yeah for echidnas. I think we all know who that “small robotic survivor” is.
Good,it seems Shade is a echidna after all, that was one of my guess for what creature she would turn out to be.
I sure want to know how Chaos and his actions ties into this.
I just know Knuckles was the last echidna of his tribe and not the last of his species. Now i truly must get this game.

Great sounding intro. Wasn’t Nocturne one of nominees for the Alien race poll?

“Clan Nocturnus”? That’s not cheesy at all, no sir.

Here’s my guess… Shade is the only survivor on the Nocturnes Clan. With nowhere else to go, Shade heads to a distant place that is home of the dark brotherhood. She joins the army and eventualy becomes a general serving for a mysterious and unknown leader. (to be revealed at the end) Years have passed, and Shade now accepts that she is the last of both tribe and her species. Now, the brotherhood targets Sonic’s world to conquer. When Shade arrives, she is shocked to hear that some of her soldiers have captured another echidna from the Knuckles Clan. There is an ongoing conflict in Shade’s thoughts of this happening. Finaly, at the end of the game, when the most suspenseful part comes (final battle with the leader). Shade is asked by her boss to kill Sonic and his friends. Shade suprisingly attacks her own boss instead. Shade has seen all that Sonic and his friends have done for the planet. Even when those they help don’t help them or otherwise hate them. And since she is not truly the last of her kind, she has decided that there is no reason to serve for evil anymore. Shade quickly joins Sonic’s team and they defeat the evil leader. Shade creates her own home on Angel Island and lives peacefully

Akra: Yeah…We did. For monthes. And no one said anything about G-Mel. Just OTHER Gizoids.

General: Not really…I just haven’t seen anything that looks semi-enjoyable from Unleashed…I’m sorry, but, it just looks to plain, and blah for a main series cnsole game. I think Sega just half-assed it, and took the lazy way out this time. -.-
