The rumor Sonic Unleashed Wii/PS2 versions has 7 stages may be true

Michael Bonawitz | November 17, 2008

A big disappointment from SEGA because of their laziness

SEGA has just updated their official Sonic Unleashed Website and has made a big mistake for Wii/PS2 gamers. A while back, there was a rumor going around saying the Wii/PS2 builds of Sonic Unleashed were only featuring 7 stages while the 360/PS3 versions were featuring 9. Well more than likely, this is true. On the site, under locations, SEGA has added Adabat and Mazuri. When clicking on Mazuri, under the video, you’ll notice it states Only on 360/PS3 version. This shows pure laziness. I have also heard that Empire City wasn’t in the Wii/PS2 strategy guide. Not a smart move SEGA.

EDIT: here is a picture for the ones who can’t load up the page.

    SUCKS.

So why does the XBOX 360 version have better graphics AND MORE LEVELS

and the Wii only has 7 levels and they’re the

    SAME PRICE LOL

    “Not a smart move SEGA.”!!!!!!!

  2. bolt on November 17th, 2008 9.00 pm

Wow, I don’t see why it’s such a terrible thing. I mean, maybe it isn’t SEGA’s fault, and Dimps, the people who developed it, chose themselves not to put the stages in. Think the sudden hate is all a bit too harsh- the game still looks fantastic regardless.

Thanks SEGA, you motherf**kers. Now my Unleashed experience is ruined and I haven’t even played it yet!!

  4. Soap Scum (aka GENERALZERO, BlackHawkOmega) on November 17th, 2008 9.06 pm

SEGA should just hand Sonic over to Nintendo already. They obviously can’t handle the responsibility.

    Now Im pissed.

  5. Tess on November 17th, 2008 9.33 pm

No way Nintendo should have Sonic! Otherwise PS3/360 owners will no longer have Sonic games. HELL NO.

  6. Mark Chao on November 17th, 2008 9.33 pm

I win because I can get the Wii version and PS3 version.

  7. Sonication on November 17th, 2008 9.40 pm

Why the hell are you guys overreacting?

It’s not that bad of news.

  8. kev on November 17th, 2008 9.43 pm

so what buy a next gen system i got a PS3 and Wii best of both worlds baby

  9. chuckey on November 17th, 2008 9.44 pm

just wait guys i bet that level will end up being downloadable content.

  10. Soap Scum (aka GENERALZERO, BlackHawkOmega) on November 17th, 2008 9.47 pm

    Sorry, Sonication-sama.

I’m just upset that the Wii version is toned down and the PS3/360 get all the good stuff. It sucks only having one of the three main competitors.

  11. Mark Chao on November 17th, 2008 9.47 pm

    @kev: We Own!

  12. ratchet on November 17th, 2008 9.52 pm

I’m going to get it February when I get enough money for a xbox.

  13. Dabbido on November 17th, 2008 9.56 pm

LOL I just laugh at this! of course it sucks not having 2 stages or 1, but what? that doesnt mean the game is RUIINEEEDD it might even play better, if its fun it will be worth the time. Who knows there might be an exclusive wii stage…but anyways Wii owners had Sonic in Brawl ,Secret Rings, Mario and Sonic and now Black Knight EXCLUSIVELY FOR THEM! including me XD

  14. Soap Scum (aka GENERALZERO, BlackHawkOmega) on November 17th, 2008 10.02 pm

It’s that I have no money. I know I’m overreacting. Sorry guys, I’m usually not like this.

  15. RAD-MAN on November 17th, 2008 10.06 pm

    Seen it coming.

  16. James on November 17th, 2008 10.23 pm

Heh, I had a feeling this would happen. It’s why I played it safe and went straight for the 360 version.

  17. iwh on November 17th, 2008 10.31 pm

    1. Stop overeacting!
    2. Isn’t it Sonic Team or Dimps fault? Why would you blame Sega?
    3. It shouldn’t matter if 2 levels aren’t in the Wii version because Sonic has more games for the Wii than 360/PS3.
    4. Thank goodness it wasn’t more than 2.

  18. Toph on November 17th, 2008 10.35 pm

Hold on. We already know that there’s an Adabat stage on the Wii—there was a trailer released for it.

  19. Soap Scum (aka GENERALZERO, BlackHawkOmega) on November 17th, 2008 10.39 pm

I know, I know. I just made a fool of myself. Let’s all just pretend this never happened.

  20. Sonication on November 17th, 2008 11.18 pm

And they say that humans are more evolved!

Me? am human, but I am more evolved by my sanity, unlike most of you!

  21. Soap Scum (aka GENERALZERO, BlackHawkOmega) on November 17th, 2008 11.23 pm

I went insane already, and I became so insane, I became sane.

  22. jose on November 17th, 2008 11.42 pm

What if they are planning to release the last two levels over wifi on wii? Can they?

  23. E on November 17th, 2008 11.43 pm

Well I’m very lucky that I have both a Wii and 360. Wii owners should be happy, anyway! They get SBK instead!

  24. Phos on November 17th, 2008 11.43 pm

Every time someone says “Sega should sell Sonic to Nintendo”, they’re really thinking, “Miyamoto should develop a Sonic game”. First of all, I doubt Nintendo would have Miyamoto make it, it would probably end up being developed by Good Feel (Wario Land: Shake It) or Treasure, and if that happens, what was the point of selling Sonic in the first place?

  25. jose on November 17th, 2008 11.43 pm

can they release the last two levels over wifi?

  26. Mark Chao on November 17th, 2008 11.43 pm

    Does that make sense?

  27. Xbox 360 on November 17th, 2008 11.48 pm

Wii has SONIC AND THE BLACK KNIGHT/SECRET RINGS!!! STOP COMPLAINING!

  28. Xbox 360 on November 17th, 2008 11.49 pm

WE HAD TO SUFFER FROM NEXT-GEN! DON’T COMPLAIN NINTENDO FANS!

Here is exactly how Sonic will become ‘cool’ again.

    1. After Unleashed, SEGA should develop a FULL HD Classic Sonic 4, as if it was designed right after Sonic 3.

    2. While doing this, a seperate team will be developing a new 3D Sonic game, trying to make it better than Unleashed.

    3. After a year, Sonic 5 (Classic) will be developed.

    4. After this, the NEXT 3D Sonic (New).

This cycle should keep repeating, pleasing all kinds of gamers.

    Anyone agree?

Wow some people are CRAZY LOL

Raise your hand if you pre-ordered or are buying Sonic Unleashed NO MATTER WHAT!

    (Raises BOTH HANDS xP)

  32. Ethan Kerr on November 18th, 2008 2.31 am

YES! Although my sympathy goes out to the PS2/Wii buyers. Damned SEGA. Dimps either couldn’t handle it, or they wanted to keep Sonic Unleashed to one DVD on the Wii/PS2 version. I’m installing this to my hard drive along with my other games. It’s a pretty awesome feature. Thanks Microsoft! Windows might not be great, but the Xbox sure is! *Yes… I’m a Mac.*

  33. Oznic on November 18th, 2008 5.11 am

Beacuse there is no Wii trailer from mazuri and empire city it dosen’t mean that there is 7 levels on the Wii/PS2 version.

  34. Mike Taylor on November 18th, 2008 5.17 am

@Oznic: Hey man. From the word go it has been rumoured that the Wii version would feature less than the 360.

@All: I think it’s a bit harsh to slam SEGA for this and start slating Unleashed. Two levels missing? Not that big-a deal is it? Really? My guess is that the limitations of the Wii/PS2 are the main reasons the levels have been removed. Not Laziness.

    COME ON UNLEASHED! lol

  35. Oznic on November 18th, 2008 5.17 am

Ok, I didn’t saw that yellow text. I don’t care that much. I’m glad cus the Holoska level is in the PS2/Wii version. I But I’m glad that it’s just 2 levels not mor like 4!

You can’t just go openly blaming Sega in your news article. You have no proof and not to mention it’s unprofessional. I doubt Sega or Dimps would just leave out 4 levels just because they felt like it or because they one day got lazy and said “Yawn, let’s just finish it here and get it into stores”.

  38. Robert on November 18th, 2008 10.14 am

Eh? Doesn’t sound like a big deal to me.
And Dimps made the Wii version, they should be the ones to blame.

  39. Nos is Lethal on November 18th, 2008 7.07 pm

Disapointment. Oh well, it’s not like it’ll be that big a difference

  40. 360man on December 30th, 2008 9.26 pm

secret rings and blacknight suck. at least yall got sonic 06. i hope that in the wii i just havent unlocked empire city yet . the games i metiond is like putting link in a space battle

  41. Jermaine on January 18th, 2009 10.50 am

How can the PS2 and Wii have 7 locations and XBOX and PS3 have 9. How does this show equality for Gamers who have XBOX/PS3 and Wii/PS2. This is not a smart move. I have sonic unleashed on PS2 and yes there is only 7 stages. No empire city and the other 2.

  42. SoDL on August 7th, 2009 1.17 pm

    Ahh.. God Damn!!!
Why is that no Mazuri and Empire City on PS2 Version!!??

    UNFAIR !!!!!!!
