Heavily Overlooked; Get it Now
Either we didn’t do our jobs, or this story is a testament to how underappreciated the NiGHTS Into Dreams franchise really is among Sonic and Sega fans.
Researchers take note–an E3 beta of NiGHTS is now available for you to download and peruse. The thing is…it’s been out since late November. The site that picked it up and really put it in the spotlight of the mainstream, Sega Nerds, didn’t publish their story until just this past Tuesday.
The story behind the beta release, however, is what’s much more interesting.
Travis, who frequents the NiGHTS community forum, sat on the beta for over a year. He paid a fortune to obtain it, only allowing those who donated to him initial access.
Recently, Travis had a change of heart:
The most heartwarming part of my experience was the fact that random strangers I never met were sending me donations to recoup the cost left and right, with some going well into the triple digits. Did I ever expect that much of random strangers? Not in a million years. I couldn’t believe I got as much back as I did. All that has taught me this:
NiGHTS fans are some of the best people out there on this earth.
No matter where you live, no matter what your age, no matter what your situation, your past, or your troubles, we’ve all been brought together by NiGHTS. The connection between us all extends father than just these message boards. We don’t just care about each other, we care for each other. Between us, we’re more than just fans; we’re friends.
[....]
Since February I’ve sat on this beta for the longest time, sticking to my policy of “You want it? That’s what you pay to see.” Is that really how I should be going around? To some of the best people I’ve met in the longest time, both on these forums and off? I haven’t given back to the community. Just a few people with deep pockets and hearts so big I can’t fathom.
But now, I really can give back to the community. I can finally rest easy without it hanging over my head any longer.
The beta is available for download, but you need a modified Saturn or an emulator to play it. Even with the beta’s public existence now more than a month old, we haven’t tracked down a lot of details with regard to changes between the beta and the final version. We will certainly keep track of any discoveries found within this beta.

Awesome
Saturn emu! DOH! I tried to make many saturn emus to work but ther is no good Saturn emu.(All of them suck!) I want to play this Nights game so gueses I have to fix one of my emus. *peeeep*
@Osnic
Try SSF out. That is a good Saturn Emulator – which is constantly being updated. You might need to try out a few versions to see which one will run best on your system.

(You can find older versions on that site too)
Personally I have been using an older version, 8.0, and it runs the majority of my library brilliantly. Some games will be jerky and you do find some graphical/audio glitches.
But on the whole games run very well with it – most notably I got Panzer Dragoon Saga, NiGHTS, Sega Rally and Guardian Heroes running on it near perfectly (plus others).
But it all depends on your system setup and what version you use it seems – as my friends have all recommended different versions.
Not as good as a real Saturn. But good if you have no other choice.
