Sonic Retro Holding Donation Drive

Generosity to Go Toward New SQL Server

Sonic Retro has been plagued lately by intermittent downtime.  As the site contains a treasure trove of Sonic research and information, such outages can be a pain for community members trying to look up the latest information.

Retro head Scarred Sun wants to alleviate these problems, but needs your help.

Her current plan is to relocate the site’s MySQL databases off of Sazpaimon run CultNET to their own dedicated space.  That plan costs money, however, and that’s where your help is needed.

Why should you do it?  Scarred Sun explains that an overload not only impacts Sonic Retro but the whole of CultNET:

When we overload CulTNET’s databases, we take down all of CulTNET with us. If you enjoy any other facet of CulTNET, it’s in your interest to make sure we don’t have to use its MySQL resources and force downtime as a result.

If you’re interested in donating, you can send a Paypal donation to scarredsun@sonicretro.org.  Scarred Sun also encourages donations be made to Sazpaimon for CultNET, at sazpaimon@sonic-cult.org.

You may remember that Sazpaimon was asking for donations of his own back in August, in an effort to accomodate a complete server move of CultNET, which includes Sonic Cult and X-Cult.
