Child’s Play Hits $1.4M+ in Donations

Donation Season Wraps Up with New Record

Even in the global economic downturn, gamers continue to open their wallets to help hospitalized children.

Friday’s announcement on the main page for Child’s Play rounded out the main donation season for the charity–and it was another record-setting year.

More than $1.4 million was raised by the team, led by Mike Krahulik, Jerry Holkins, and their cartoon counterparts Tycho and Gabe:

We are very proud to announce our final total for the 2008 Child’s Play season: $1,434,377! This is a new annual record for Child’s Play, and we send sincere thanks out to the entire gamer community for the incredible support that made this possible. Every toy and cash donation, every community and campus fundraiser, every employer matching gift and more comes together to make a huge difference in our partner hospitals all around the world. We’d also like to thank all of the volunteers and companies who helped keep Child’s Play running smoothly during our 2008 season.

This year about 60 hospitals around the world were partners in the Child’s Play effort, and you, no doubt, saw imagery on this site and many others asking for your donations.
