Famitsu: Miyoshi’s Next Game Pole’s Big Adventure

UPDATED with Magazine Scan + Screenshots

If you’re wondering why the website for a still officially unrevealed title produced by Takao Miyoshi is so…strange, it’s because the game it’s promoting, according to details allegedly dished in the latest Famitsu magazine, actually is strange.

The NeoGAF thread dedicated to the latest Famitsu magazine discussion claims that the latest edition does reveal some dirt on the Miyoshi title.  The game, called Pole’s Big Adventure, is slated for a WiiWare release on February 3rd in Japan.  It’s classified as a comedy action game, which would explain the B rating (12 and up) CERO gave it.

According to the translated magazine details, Pole’s Big Adventure is meant to be a 2D platformer mimicking those released on the original NES–that probably explains the use of the mushroom on the site right now.  The game will be filled with inside jokes and gags that are discovered within the stages.

All in all, this could be a game mocking Super Mario, produced by Sega, to be released on a Nintendo console.  Irony aside, we’ll know for sure when the big reveal happens on the website in just over two days.  Though Famitsu is very reliable for information, we’ll treat this as a rumor for the moment.

A big thanks go out to Hero of Legend and Sonikku Master for keeping us informed of these developments.  If you have a news tip, submit it by clicking “News Tips” at the top of every page.

UPDATE: It may not just be Mario that’s being mocked.  It turns out that in Japan, “mushroom” is slang for…well, a certain part of the male anatomy.  That certainly brings a whole new dimension to Mario’s growing and shrinking.  It also shows how hilarious this game may end up being, given the pulsating nature of the mushroom on the Pole website.  Between “Pole,” “Mushroom” and “Big,”…there should be a lot of…ahem, envy going on.

UPDATE #2 NOON ET: With thanks to Sega Nerds there is now a magazine scan in circulation that contains screenshots from the game.  We have it for your review below.  There indeed are some serious Mario vibes in this…
