Update: That was, apparently, the plan from the beginning
Originally thought to be coming to both XBOX Live and PSN everywhere, a CVG report confirms Outrun Online Arcade will be XBOX Live exclusive in North America.
That exclusivity doesn’t appear to exist in other regions, so European Outrun lovers will have a choice of console for the HD title.
While Sega did confirm the news to CVG, a representative would not comment on the rationale.
The release of Outrun Online Arcade is expected this quarter. We’ll let you know if anything else changes regarding the release of this title.
UPDATE: It appears confusing press releases sent off by different Sega divisions muddied expectations to begin with. Our original story evidently carried the Sega of Europe press release, but AAUK has pointed out in our comments below that Sega of America put out their own press release shortly after the announcement, and it made no mention of a PSN release. So, at least in North America, there was XBOX Live exclusivity to begin with. Thanks to AAUK for pointing this out.

Acccccccctually I think you’ll find from the beginning the American press release (there were seperate ones on this occasion) didn’t say anything about it being on PSN so it being a “change of heart” is kinda wrong. Why its not coming to PSN is the US I couldn’t say but that was the situation from the get go, It just so happens a lot of sites put up the SOE one not the SOA one.

You’re right–I’ve edited the story.
I really need to stop writing stories at 5 in the morning.
