Cutting Through Score, Magazine Confusion
We have some more great news out of Japan regarding the next-gen version of Sonic World Adventure, that country’s name for Sonic Unleashed–as well as a clarification regarding a previous Famitsu score shown on this site.
That score of 33/40 for the game still exists, but we inadvertently attributed it to the wrong magazine. Apparently, Famitsu does have spin-off publications for each console, and that score was given by Famitsu 360.
We’ve just gotten word of an even better score given by the original, primary Famitsu magazine, a 34 out of 40. That’s an 8.5 on the “out of 10″ scale. When you break down the score by reviewer, it gets even better, because three out of four reviewers gave the title a 9, with one lone dissenter offering up a 7.
Overall, the scores in Japan are very good ahead of the next-generation variant’s launch. But don’t get your hopes up just yet, especially if the sales trend for the Wii edition of Sonic World Adventure is mimicked. Tomorrow on TSSZ News, we’ll have a report on just how poor the numbers are in Japan.

If there are improvements in the 360 version over in Japan there better well be a patch for the game over in the states.

I’m thinking its less about there being a bug fix and more about Famitsu not being biast jerkfaces!
And scores in Japan were always low, I remember…Sonic Rush Adventure only had 16,000 units shipped its first week. And that’s lame. That’s the usual response to Sonic titles down there, so don’t make TOO much out of it.
The PS3 version is much better than Wii version I think. I’ll buy it for PS3 later this year. Gimps or Dimps or whatever they call themselfs, made a unbelivable bad job on Sonic Unleashed! They nighttimes stages in the Wii/PS2 version is much better than the day stages.

Not really bad, but it could been much better. I like it(It’s one of the best games 2008)
Unispered stages, only bad copys of the stages in the 360/PS3 version.
It’s still a good score, nonetheless.
I think the reviewers here are just biased towards sonic… I dunno, I DO know I loved sonic Unleashed 360 version.

BUt I’m happy all the same that SWA is getting nice scores, even if it isn’t with the reviewers I read however unhappily.
What? 34/40 is pretty damn good. You can;t just go around calling everyone bias when they give a Sonic game a bad score…except IGN. We hate them.
The trouble with Famitsu reviews is the fact they allow published to “review” the review before publication.
