More Scans from ONM M&S Winter Olympics Feature

Tristan Oliver | February 16, 2009

More Screenshots from Wii, DS Editions

Following up on Friday’s story, the whole of Official Nintendo Magazine’s first look of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is now circulating throughout the Internet.

The feature doesn’t speak a whole lot about the game’s features or mechanics, but it does show off some screenshots from both the Wii and DS editions.  ONM claims that the game see a return of most, if not all characters from the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic rendition, with the potential for new characters to join in.  In particular, ONM states the DS version should have multiplayer enabled features over Wi-Fi.

Take a look at the scans below, courtesy of a forumer over at Sega Nerds.  There are six pages; we only have five here as the sixth is simply a retrospective, useless with regard to bringing you new information.  We’ll continue to bring you details on Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games as details trickle on over the next several months.

Shadow the equilvalent of “athlete’s foot”? “Less crummy Sonic characters this time?”

    How about “less editoralizing”, please?

Wow they are not fans of the Sonic cast, busting on Shadow and Knuckles a little I think, as well as saying “less crummy Sonic characters this time around.”

I’d think about what you’re saying before you claim that Sonic’s character’s suck. Look at the Mario series please. Waluigi and Daisy. Entirely useless characters never in any games except for Mario Karts and Mario Sports games.

Granted, there were some bad Sonic characters in the last game (Like Vector for instance… kinda useless), but Shadow and Knuckles are series staples.

I like these. This game looks quite fun. Well this magazine seems to be bashing the Sonic series a bit. Don’t you think?

what they are bashing Knuckles!?? why? I always saw him as a great character, and hes origional and very different to the others too, he was great in M+S before because his mix of speed and power gavbe him a good edge in most games.

    Yeah…the shot seemed awkward.

Maybe they meant they want more characters like Knuckles and not crummy ones like Vector and Espio. Then again, who could they use? Silver? Come on.

    Metal Sonic? Yes, please.

  7. PJMan on February 16th, 2009 6.42 pm

Oh yes please put in Metal Sonic. I would use him in every event no matter how unfitting (Actually Metal Sonic would probably not be in it though because his stats kind of make him a God character. He’d have perfect speed, perfect strength, perfect acceleration, and perfect technique. He falls in the same category as would all the super forms in the Sonic series, Super Mario, and Super Luigi)

    Metal sonic for the win.

The DS version, again, looks incredible graphically.

The Wii version however, again, lacks in comparison to Mario Galaxy and Secret Rings/Black Knight.

@PJman: Well, make him stronger than Sonic but less agile and slower.

Oh, and another suggestion! …Perfect Chaos. Okay, maybe not.

    Ice Mario! Nice.

@Crazee: ^.^ How awesome would that b! Of course it would be completely ridiculous, I mean why would Chaos appear in Vancouver? 0.o Still, would be so unexpected it would be fantastic XD

hopefully sonic and mario at least shake hands or something ! the last one had no interaction at all with these two famous characters ! they just looked at each other in the opening movie ! thats what disapointed me the most with the last game. think about it…you wouldn’t even need mario and sonic characters in the last one cause its like SEGA just made an olympic game and stuck the characters in it !
