Sonic Cult Apologizes Over Megamix Leak…To Some

x-cult-sonic-cultAlso Denounces Tweaker, TSSZ News

A day after our investigation dove into how an unauthorized leak of fan favorite Sonic Megamix may have led to the official announcement that the hack was back in development, officials at Sonic Cult are apologizing to some, and attempting to discredit the accounts of others, including this reporter.

PACHUKA, under a second surname Phugolz, attempted to set the record straight through his viewpoint just hours ago at both Sonic Cult and sister site X-Cult.  He first attempts to chronicle the timeline of events regarding the Megamix leak.  At the end of his account, PACHUKA apologizes to Team Megamix, including Stealth, for the leak.  Be warned, however: The language he uses throughout is strong:

About 2-3 months ago, someone approached me on IRC and asked if I wanted the latest leaked version of the Megamix sourcecode. Being addicted to having anything leaked, I said sure. It sat on my PC for a few weeks, until I found out it was for Sega CD, so I attempted to compile it.

FAIL.

So I asked a dumbshit by the name of Tweaker to help me compile it. After 30 minutes of blowing smoke up my ass, I finally found out Megamix wasn’t even open source. (I assumed it was) So I dropped it, but it sat on my PC for weeks without anything interesting going on.

A few weeks ago, someone on IRC was requesting the “Megamix source leak,” so I gave it to him. Then it all went apeshit.

So Tweaker from Sonic Retro went nuts, dropped whatever cock he was working on, and started smearing my name all over. Because I’m so evil.

And that boring, bland story was all there was to it. I’d like to offer my apologies to Stealth, Cinnosu, etc for fucking with their hard work. I respect what you’ve done, and it’s the closest thing I’ve ever seen to a 4th Sonic title on a 16-bit platform.

Immediately following that apology, however, PACHUKA proceeds to tear apart Sonic Retro forum administrator Tweaker, and urges the Megamix team to drop him from the project.  The remainder of his post also strongly criticizes this site and this reporter for our news coverage, and claims that we lied about what happened:

As for Tweaker, you should be fucking ASHAMED of yourself. If it wasn’t for YOUR stupid actions leaking the source to begin with, I wouldn’t have gotten it, and this whole thing could have been avoided. You’re a stupid, childish, tiny little cocksucker, and your reign on a video game fansite is your greatest acheivement. You smell like anal lubricant and failure. To the rest of the Megamix team, dump the raw sewage and things won’t stink. The lack of respect for your project is 100% attached to the fact that no one respects Tweaker.

As for everyone else, unless you suddenly can do 68k asm, this is COMPLETELY unexciting. As for TSSZ: your reporting is piss poor. If you’re going to “play reporter,” at least don’t blatently lie.

Sonic Cult was contacted for comment regarding our original story.  We received no response.

Cult officials then immediately threatened instant, permanent bans to any individuals who, in their words, “continues to beat this dead horse.”

This is not the first time Sonic Cult has taken TSSZ News to task.  In 2004, we were criticized when a TSSZ News reporter posted a story that was later revealed to be a practical joke, propagated by members of the Cult forums.  The story involved the possibility of a new XBOX-specific Sonic game in development, using the Sonic Heroes engine.  The comments then:

Thanks to the inconceivable and unbelievable skills of the imbeciles at TSSZ, I’ve gotten like 900 emails asking me about this. It was a practical joke we were playing in our forums, which they took as genuine news. Nevertheless, a few days ago Tristan (leader of this mockery of journalism) declared my report about Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was “redundant.”

This comes from the same site who posted an article about Sonic Classic being hacked by the CulT, due to the author being angry that he was banned from the SCARZ forums. (An article that was completely false, by the way) The same site who wrote an entire article about Sonic Advance 3 being dumped, filled with made up facts and speculation. When confronted, the author replied with “That’s journalism.”

Every week it seems like a new and half assed story is written, shaming Sonic fans, let alone the site. I no longer wish to be part of this horrid excuse for tabloid journalism, so I’m going to firmly request that TSSZ no longer reports ANYTHING dealing with the Cult or myself. Not because I don’t want the traffic or attention, I’m just confident that 99% the report will be half assed, inaccurate, and entirely full of made up details.

On that note, there does need to be a REAL Sonic news site of some kind, so if you have any knowledge in web development, a lot of time and commitment, and a firm conviction in reporting shit properly, drop me an email. I can supply webspace/bandwidth/software/materials/etc for you to make a bona fide Sonic news site.

That “real,” “bona fide” Sonic news site meant to rival this organization never came to fruition.

TSSZ News will continue to cover matters relating to Sonic Megamix, and we remain committed to covering news and issues that involve Sonic Cult or X-Cult when necessary.
