Almost Assured Confirmation Series will Continue
The last poll on Sonic’s Facebook page–concerning what secondary Sonic character you’d like to see return–had ramifications that seemed a little less serious than the present one.
The latest poll asks what genre you’d like to see the next Sonic storybook series set in. It’s almost a sure confirmation that the Storybook series will continue after Sonic and the Black Knight, and the timing is important; it could mean your input determines the direction of the next game.
How can that be such a certainty? One of our exclusive interviews from the New York Comic Con in February revealed that the development cycle for the storybook series is two years, and begins almost immediately after one game is finished. Sonic and the Black Knight was finished as early as January, and that means the next title presumed for 2011 is still early in those stages, possibly as early as molding the core concept.
The current choices include Film Noir, Horror, Sci-Fi, Western/Cowboy, “Other,” and perhaps the most appropriate and plausible, Greek Myths and Legends. You have to wonder, with such detail, if that last one is a big hint.
You need to have Facebook polls enabled on your profile to vote, and you may need to become a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog in order to participate. TSSZ News will keep tabs of the results just in case, but if nothing else, the poll is yet another example of how closely Sega is listening to Sonic fandom in these times.

hmmm interesting so now Sega is making sonic fans choose what the next storybook game should thats a good idea but it comes out in 2011 o_O i am going to be like 17 or 18 by that time……

sonic in japanese myths should be the next sonic storybook. Imagine sonic as a ninja and eggman as an evil shogun.

I chose Mythology, pecause I love mythology! That is why Tomb Raider is one of my favourite game series (although not as much as Sonic). Game-genre-wise, it could be an action-adventure game with a heavy focus on complex puzzle-solving, platforming and exloration, but very little focus un fighting (just like the werehog should have been).
Another theme that I think would be great (even though not related to mythology) is that Sonic would visit the world of Alice in Wonderland and ats sequel, through the looking-glass. I absolitely love fantasy worlds and especially considering that there will soon be a new Alice movie and there are also roomers of a new game based on Alice in WOnderland, I think it would be great if Sonic would visit Wonderland as well, and it would be especially awesome if this game of Sonic would be the most entertaining one compared to the mentioned movie and game.
Also, I really really really hope that Yojiro Ogawa will be the Creative Director of the nest Storybook game again, instead of Tetsu Katano! I LOVED Secret Rings, but I didn’t like Black Knight that mush, eventhough I appreciate the effort that was put in it.

Actually nah just make a normal game that has a bunch of futuristic levels (NOT a continuation of the Sonic Riders series). I missed having a space level in Unleashed (I also missed having a grass level really)

Sci-fi could mean a lot of different things really. I don’t want that to be like where he’s seeing all of these little green men that go “wooooaaaahhh”.
Greek gets my vote, I just hope there’s more Sonic stuff in it like in Secret Rings such as springs and rings. Jun and Richard need to do the score again.
And for pete sake, if they’re making it on-rails again, do it like in Secret Rings with the Wiimote sideways tilting, but PERFECTED!
Or do it Adventure-style or Unleashed daytime-style.
Those three have been the best 3D formulas.
ERrrrrrr Tristan I don’t think you’ll win many awards for ‘the games come out two years after each other’. Lol. Its a bit like saying the main games come out 2 and a bit years after each other every time.
Besides I thought it was made clear in the update to people that this was a for “fun only” exercise. This is no confirmation the series will continue at all.
Believe me I certainly don’t have the power to decide how we go about making any future games – that’d make me a Director and I’d want to be paid a thumping sight more than I am atm!!! XD

And, quite honestly, there are too many factors and background information that give credence to this new story to make me feel a retraction is in order.

Hi! I’d vote for a Sci-fi, and it would be something to see Knuckles or Amy having a big part of the story, they never seem to have one (in my opinion)
And you should try this ”Sonic heroes” style again, but a bit different like if you switch into one of your team members you could run around freely and then just call for the others whenever you need to, that would be pretty cool!

This new story is entirely based off the Sonic Facebook, well – I run the Facebook site – and set the poll. I’m telling you man its no confirmation at all, just a fun poll. Unless you’re telling me I somehow have the power to make Sonic Team make games (the FB group is purely an SOA/E endeavour and Japan is not involved in it at all) its not going to decide anything.
Its just the same as how SEGA aren’t immediately going to bring back Nack just because he topped the last poll over what character you’d like to see return.
