New Screenshots of Ashura: Dark Reign

ashura-aReassurance Kinks in Project will be Fixed

Sort of lost in the buzz of the project’s recent exposure in PC Gamer UK were some small trinkets of information and screenshots released for Ashura: Dark Reign.

But for all its stunning visuals and high hopes, the Unreal Tournament 2004 project has come under some fire by some fans, who have criticized in particular Sonic’s character model in the game.  In a late March news update, Dekrayzis attempted to put thsoe fears to rest, and told all in anticipation that the gameplay comes first:

Yes there are many issues with the demo that we are aware of. Yes Sonic’s animations look bad, Jumping doesnt look right, and yes the gameplay isnt perfect.

But that is what a Tech demo is!; an imperfect demo, just to showcase whats been achived. Tech demos don’t get out to the public from the big game developers, only released internally. As there was a demand from people to play ADR; we released the tech demo, then re-released it to fix issues in the first revision and added additional features to the extended verison; such as what we refer to as ‘The Unleashed Cam’.

Sonic will be polished with a better skeletal rig, animations and coloring, as will all characters in the mod. Levels will be polished, tweaked, and optimized before the final is released. First I want the level gameplay done before Sonic and the polishing begins.

We have two new screenshots to share from the project.  One shows off the game’s Master Emerald, and–take note, classic Sonic aficionados–the other was simply titled Angel Island: Redux.  You can look at both below.  TSSZ News will continue to bring you the latest information regarding Ashura: Dark Reign, still very early in development.
