Spot on. That was a fantastic review.

Wow… Klonoa just didn’t seem right with the scrapped design…. Except that you could tell he was a cat (that is… if he is) and well….. Nothing else besides looking like a more mature Sonic.

Glad they’re keeping the main design. And dang, why don’t I own ANY of the games? I’m lost with myself on that one…..

I am a HUGE Klonoa fan. IMO, the Klonoa series are the best games ever made. Simple, fun, short and definitely memorable. Will be flying to stores to grab the remake when it comes out over here!

BTW, Treleus, the character designer created Klonoa in such a way so that his species could be left to the player’s imagination. Basically, if you think he’s a cat, he’s a cat. If I think he’s a dog, he’s a dog and so on.

@Osnic: Well, presumably Klonoa was made to sort of rival Sonic and Mario, hence the anthropomorphic animal look. Even given that, most Sonic characters have rounder heads and bodies, no clothes (with the exception of female characters), and on occasion one eye with two pupils. I think Klonoa can be easily distinguished from Sonic if only by his clothes aside from his overall look.

Besides, what would he be? Klonoa the… uh… Cat? Lemur? Wolf? Weird-Eared Thing? I dunno.

Beautiful review, man. I just recently got a working copy of Lunatea’s Veil and will probably play it before or after I finish Odin Sphere (which will be a while, but damned if I don’t finish such a beautiful game)

The first time I ever played a Klonoa game was just a week ago when I bought the remake of the first one for the Wii. It turned out to be great fun, and it makes me hope that they port the second one to the Wii as well (I don’t own a PS2). As for the design, I think they should keep the one they have now, changing outfits now and then if they want, but the overall style works well IMO. That new style looked bad even before I played any Klonoa games.

Can’t watch the video now, but I like Klonoa. Sure he looks like a Sonic character, but so did Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. And guess what? Both Ty and Klonoa are awesome.

You hit the nail on the head, couldn’t have done a better review of the two main Klonoa games myself. Klonoa is an excellent series, I just wish it would get the sales it deserves.

I love Lunteas Viel! It’s one of the best games ever made for the PS2! I’m going to play it today, as soon as I’m able to play on my PS2.
But the only thing with Klonoa that I hate is that he looks like a Sonic character! They should use that scrapped U.S.A version, it looks more orginal! Even if that design still looks kinda lika a Sonic character, it looks cooler and as I said, more orginal. But anyway, the games are awsome, I hope they make Klonoa 3. I think I’m going to get Klonoa for Wii.
