Streak Thunderstorm Surprises SFGHQers
Quickly on the heels of announcing its revival over the weekend, Streak Thunderstorm has let the fan gaming community in on what he has accomplished so far in Sonic the Hedgehog: Mecha Madness…not just by posting art, but by posting a very early demo.
The download, first posted on the Sonic Fan Games HQ forums yesterday and available for your consumption here, has rough edges. Streak explains what you can and can’t do:
You can’t attack any enemies but you can actually pull of smash moves [ala Brawl] now complete with the whole charge up and whatnot. I also programmed Sonic being hit and launched by enemies. Don’t worry, it’s not a brawl copy but the fighting needed to be a little more epic than it was before. Now Sonic can smash into walls and slide on the floor if he’s stunned and hit hard.
Double tap any direction to run fast [OMG REALLY!?]
Smash moves…. Any direction+ ctrl. I programmed a little lag in the smash identifier so you don’t have to press them at the exact same time.
Streak originally noted that he would like to have something with more meat in time for this year’s SAGE. The release of this early build certainly makes that possibility greater. Keep checking TSSZ News for further updates.

cool, I’ve never really been into sonic fangames, preferring the official ones, but all of this could get anyone a little hyped. Fantastic falls short of describing that super metal sonic. I think I’ll have to try the demo. Again good on you Streak for having the motivation and drive to continue!
Pretty amazing ~ the super Sonic was incredable. Can’t WAIT for a full level.
Aww, I thought this was the Sonic the Hedgehog: Mecha Madness Comic.
Because I don’t go to SFGHQ, I’ll just say this here.
Some things you may already know; Super Sonic doesn’t have a crouch animation (he turns back into Sonic), and if Tails dies when Sonic dies the game gets stuck in an endless loop of Tails’ death.
Also, Super Sonic’s Smashes don’t work at all.
