Sonic Racing Looks Surprisingly Super In Screens Inside
Just as all looked lost for any surprises leading up to E3, Sega has just swerved us all by announcing Sonic & Sega’s All-Star Racing, the follow up to Sega Superstars Tennis. The new game appears to be a racing game in the vein of Mario Kart featuring veterans of the ‘Superstars’ series such as Sonic, Tails, Eggman, AiAi, Amigo and Amy all being spotted up to press. Check out some in-game screenshots below.
Sega have also issued a press release on the games official website, the full content of which is as follows;
“In a frantic battle to the chequered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in mediaeval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA. Fan favourites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will speed around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in Aiai’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium…
But winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position.
Battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.
Can Amigo scramble Dr. Eggman? Will AiAi say bye-bye to Tails? Are you gonna be faster than Sonic? The race will start in 2010…”

Ugh. Guys, be quiet.
You guys don’t even know what makes a great Sonic game, and Sega would be very wise to not listen to their fans.
Either way, this looks fun!
@ Every complainer
DEAR GOD PEOPLE ITS A FREAKING KART RACING GAME! YEAH SONIC CAN RUN AT THE FREAKING SPEED OF SOUND! WE KNOW! ITS A GAMEPLAY MECHANIC! DO YOU REALLY THINK HE NEEDED A BOBSLED IN HOLOSKA? OR A SNOWBOARD IN ICE CAP AND THE 2 LEVELS IN SONIC RUSH ADVENTURE!
JUST GET OVER YOURSELF AND REALIZE THAT ITS NOTHING MORE THAN A GAMEPLAY MECHANIC.
IF THEY REALLY HAD SONIC RUNNING AT 700MPH ON FOOT THE GAME WOULD BE NO FUN BECAUSE HE WOULD ALWAYS WIN!
@Willy105
Actually, i think Sega’s fans would be very wise not to listen to you. (no offense)
This actually looks pretty cool! I mean when I seen the logo I wasn’t extremely excited, but when looking at screenshots like the part of the green hill zone layout i really got pumped!! c’mon look at that view!! then something popped into my head…. (Hey SEGA & Sonic team! Ya see that green hill zone ya made right there? yes that fully beautiful\amazing\awesome\classically portrayed one! take that and make a sonic game with all remakes of all the other sonic 1,2, and possibly 3 levels with a not to deep story line and maybe different playable characters -tails/knuckles- then you got a sonic game that EVERYBODY is excited about!) see guys its not that hard!
Sonic. Drift. Sucked. What’s the point of Sonic in a car if he can already run faster than one. I prefer Sonic R. It had Sonic and most of the characters RUNNING! Except for Eggman. That makes sense. This doesn’t. I know Shadow’s on the motorbike, which is cool, but who else? If they added Silver, what would he use? What about Rouge and Knuckles? What would they use? And they made Big a playable character. A big no-no in my books. Anyway, I’d be fine if they added Jet and his Extreme Gear, or the Werehog. But come on. Gameplay mechanics could have the cars keeping up with Sonic running. In some games, you can have a Mini Cooper keep up with a Ferrari, although for a short time period. So come on. There were always things made by Eggman and Tails which were as fast or faster than Sonic, so a lot of Sonic fans would be considering blackbanning the game amongst their circles to make sure Sega gets the message. Me? I’d think about it, but I don’t know. My PS3 game collection is looking pretty low, so I’d think about it when it’s released.
I want it for PS3
