SMC3 Listing Removed from “Sonic’s Channel”

Rumor AlertAuthenticity of “Official” Status Questioned

The YouTube channel claiming itself to be the official presence of Sonic the Hedgehog there removed a listing we reported on Friday that claimed another Sonic Mega Collection would be out next year.

Without explanation, the listing was removed by “SonicsChannel” over the weekend, replaced with another TBR listing for the mobile edition of Sonic Unleashed.  The YouTube page is part of a series of Sonic related channels with dedicated pages for most major characters from Eggman to Cream–all interwoven, and all claiming to be official.  The sites appear to be operated and maintained out of Japan.  Sega does have official YouTube pages for its American, European and Japanese divisions.  It is interesting to note that SonicsChannel does hold subscriptions to all of these official Sega channels, and it holds a YouTube friendship standing with the official Sega channel in Japan.

Many within the community dispute the authenticity of that official status, and an inquiry is underway within Sega regarding that claim, and whether such a compilation has even been considered, let alone in development.  Even more community chatter questions why another compilation is needed with so many re-releases already, and what else could be included on them.

When TSSZ News learns the results of the inquiry, we will follow up.
