AAUK Says it Will be Something to “Treasure”
There’s one little nugget of information that can be passed along regarding the 2009 Summer of Sonic convention, and it’s good news for those planning to attend.
Monday’s Blognik entry from ArchangelUK noted that he is planning something special for attendees. It appears to be something along the lines of a keepsake, but don’t expect to get more than one of it:
Last year people received T-shirts and things, well I’ve been a bit more… shall we say “creative” this year and we’ve pushed the boat out a bit more. So for those attending there will be a special gift, this will be limited numbers and limited to one per family but if it gets the okay from the powers that be it shall be something you may very well treasure always…. or try to sell on eBay.
What that keepsake will be may be left a secret until the beginning of the convention. Be assured, though–if you can’t make it, TSSZ News will have a team of correspondents at the Summer of Sonic convention, and they will make you feel like you’re right there. We’ll continue to bring you developments up to convention day, August 29th.

Oh bugger…you better be planning something similiar from now two years from now!!!
sigh… everythings always in London, or abroad… never close sigh..
Gotta agree with that one, Blueblur. Nobody thinks to take it outside of London, despite it not being the whole of the UK. What they did with Wembley was a scandal, and they took £5m from Birmingham due to making sure it would go to London and yet let others put expensive bids together. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK, LONDON. Same with the Olympics, and the Super Casino.
We’re getting fed up of it. Bring some action out of London, you selfish lot.
hahah yeah londons to far from me too XD
People in the UK can get to London easier than the average American can get to New York or LA on a whim to attend special events here. It’s a smaller country.
It’s still about 200 miles from where I live. That’s not a justifiable distance on a whim, especially for someone who is still in college. Birmingham would be much more commutable for more people, as it is in the centre of the country.
The fact that this is happening at all, should be something that you should be at least be thankful for.
Nope. What’s the point if it’s impossible to attend? The location excludes a heck of a lot of people out.
@Pur-Purparie: Birmingham is still miles from anywhere. If one lives south of London, one has the beast of London to battle with before one is able to travel beyond. It can take more than an hour sometimes to pass through London… I’m actually impressed that something on this scale can be organised in the UK. We’re not too good at organising ANYTHING!
As for London getting everything… you make a good point, but it depends on where the event organisers are based and wish to stage it.
@Crazee: The UK is NOT easy to travel around. Nor is it cheap. Residing in a smaller country does not grant anything beneficial whatsoever.
@Darl Shadow: Amen.
I can imagine the same complaints if it were held in Los Angeles, Tokyo or Berlin. Either way, regardless of location, it’ll be a great day. Now, I wonder if the organisers will take note of any comments regarding location (within the UK, at least).
I wish that events like these happened in America… oh well.
why are they going to give special crap out if not everyone can get one…
damn I hate convention exclusives.
I live in america and Im poor so I cant go.
