DEVELOPING: Possible Attack at Retro Forum, No Data Lost

Tristan Oliver | July 10, 2009

Sonic RetroDetails Scarce, Confusion Abound

Within the past hour, the Sonic Retro forums have been put in a tailspin.

In public view, all forum topics have been wiped.  Forum admin Tweaker tells TSSZ News–and has told forumers in a special announcement–that  no data or posts on the forum have been lost, and that responsibility has been placed on Retro forumer x64 for the hiccup.  That means years of accumulated discussion and “live” research discoveries in the community have not been lost.  Those will have to be re-inserted manually, and Retro administrators are in the process of fixing the issue.

Not clear at the moment is whether this issue was accidental in tinkering with forum settings, or something more deliberate and malicious.  More information is promised later.

All Tweaker is saying regarding the nature of the incident right now is that “shit happened.”

This is a developing story–one that, for the moment, does not have a lot of accompanying detail.  We will try to bring you new information on the status of Sonic Retro and its forums later today.

What should really be noted is retro’s recent sale of bans.

That’s right, Retro is offering users the option of purchasing bans for people they don’t like
