SAGE 2009: Mike Pollock Back for Another Round

Tristan Oliver | July 18, 2009

SAGE_2009Voice of Eggman will Chat with SAGErs Again

TSSZ News has learned Mike Pollock will come back again as a guest at this year’s Sonic Amateur Games Expo.

Pollock has been a guest of SAGE before.  Sonic fans best know him from his work voicing Dr. Eggman in recent Sonic games and Sonic X, after the passing of Deem Bristow.  Pollock also works on several other series distributed by 4Kids Entertainment, including narrating on the U.S. Pokémon television series.

When he will be chatting online isn’t set in stone yet, but when we get that information, we’ll pass it along.  TSSZ News is your source for all developments on the road to this year’s SAGE–now just a week away.

“I’ve waited a long time for this!”

Yes! Wait, Wasn’t he the reason why the Sonic voice cast was replaced?

  3. Pur on July 18th, 2009 1.04 pm

    Milo: NO.

That’s why I wanted to post saying that i felt sorry for Mike; the last time he did one of these events, he got flak for ‘being the reason that the cast got replaced’, when the negotiations to drop the old cast for 4Kids were well underway before Bristow’s passing.

Don’t do it, Mike! It’s too dangerous! Those SoS nuts are still about!

Pollock is actually universally loved by most fans I know…his work is very good. We loved Bristow, but Mike does a great job.

  5. SonicSpeed011 on July 18th, 2009 3.22 pm

Mike Pollock wasn’t the real reason why the original cast got replaced, it was Deem Bristow’s death, and the other reason is because SEGA fired Ryan drummod for good. Actually, Mike is overall the best 4Kids actor.

  6. Pur on July 18th, 2009 3.32 pm

SonicSpeed011: NO. [To everything par the last sentence. That's just opinion, not an incorrect statement].

  7. Osnic on July 18th, 2009 4.22 pm

Why did they fired Ryan!? I really want to know that since he was a good actor! The new Jason guy isn’t so good, it the thing isn’t that I don’t like the voice, it is that he dosen’t give any life to Sonic when he is acting! It feels so fake! But he actually made a good job in Unleashed I think, and then it sucked again in black knight. I was glad that they hold a pistol near his head when he was acting. Something like: If you don’t do this good this time we will kill you!
But I still miss ryan. I hope Jason does it better next time. But even if the one in SU was good, he still have much left to learn!

But anyway, this guy who is the voice actor for eggman is the best one! He’s good! And he was absolutely best in SU too I think! But he is nealy always good I think! But that’s just my opinion!

Osnic: Are you kidding? Griffith was great in Black Knight and whats this about holding a pistiol near Griffiths head? Most retarded thing I have heard all day

    DRUMMOND FTW

Just wanted to throw out there that you guys are all full of crap.

Mike Pollock was probably the most smooth-flowing guest we had at SAGE last year. Pur, nobody was giving him crap, we had him do a radio trivia gameshow agains’t people in the show, and it was quite possibly the coolest thing ever.

The only interview that went awry last year was Howard Drossin and thats because he was booked literally the day before we did the interview, and everyone had overstated his role with the music in the games and his relationship with Michael Jackson.

I guess you can say Richard Jacques was questionable too due to technical difficulties with the broadcast clipping and the fact that somebody felt the need to unannouncedly plug their music during the broadcast…

  12. Tweaker on July 18th, 2009 11.35 pm

    Fuck off, Shadix.

And for the record, the only reason Drossin’s interview went awry is because you had the bright idea of favoring complete dumbshits asking useless questions over anything pertinent that I and some choice others were trying to ask him about. The fact that you had the audacity to go on the SAGEcast and talk shit about me after the fact shows that you were never fit to organize that entire event in the first place.

Stop talking shit that you have no room to talk.

    *slowly backs away*
Umm, just throwing my opinion out there (just don’t eat me for it), Pollock’s pretty cool, his interview with TSS a while back made me laugh aloud a fair bit.
I heard Griffiths-Sonic first, so when I went back to the youtube archives of Sa1 and SA2 I found I didn’t like his Sonic much.
It’s the same whenever I hear dubs or subs from Japanese anime, it doesn’t matter if it’s a dub or a sub, English or Japanese, the first voices I hear are normally always my favourites. You grow used to the voice, feel comfortable with it, and it’s the voice of the character you bond with. So when that’s changed, like with this whole Drummond-Griffiths scenario, it’s normal for people to feel a bit uneasy about a sudden change in voice, and on a larger extent a change in personality in one of their favourite characters and idols (who doesn’t idolise Sonic the Hedgehog? Or is it just me…?)
I prefer Griffiths, but if it’s because of quality or it’s just the voice that because I’m more comfortable with I blindly prefer, is a topic I’d rather leave alone so that I may live another day and not be torn apart by raging fanatics…
I’m no psychologist, so you can decide whether the above paragraph of blabber makes any sense.

Wonder if he’ll be able to say more about the Wii game he’s voicing in?

Riders 3 perhaps? This was after Winter Games was unveiled and he was asked about that when he mentioned the secret Wii game involvement I think.

It’s that time again, Riders 2 came out in Jan 2008, it’s been almost two years since, and Riders 1 came out in Mar 2006.

Mike Pollock is currently one of (if not) the best voice actors currently doing work for the Sonic video games at the moment. His work in Sonic 06 was great.

    Check my interview – http://www.sonicscene.net/interviews/pollock.html
for more on the whole Deem Bristow situation.

I can’t beleive it, but I agree with OSonic, the last generaton of voice acting for the Sonic Gamers were superior.
