New Details: ProSonic’s Mac Port

SAGE_2009Mac Users Get Engine Release Now

One of the first surprise announcements at this year’s SAGE was the appearance of Damian Grove and his ProSonic engine project.  Most everyone had been under the impression that the first public release of the engine would happen in September.

That isn’t quite the case, as Grove surprise SAGErs with a Macintosh engine test of ProSonic.  He stressed to booth-goers that the release isn’t complete, and that it will only run on Intel-based Macs with OS X 10.5:

This is basically a tech demo that shows off many new features that were not available in last years release. I also took the time to polish this release to be sure it wasn’t filled with bugs.

To look at all the new features, screenshots of the engine test, and to download it for yourself, head to SAGE, click on “Booths,” and click on the ProSonic button.

Unfortunately, the networking support planned for ProSonic that we first reported on isn’t in this Mac build.  According to Grove, The bugs are still being worked out, and while it’s still planned for the September release, in his words, “I can’t promise anything.”

We’ll have more news from the online SAGE all through this week here on TSSZ News.
