Reception Equally Poor Despite Marginally Improved Load Times
The user rating for the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog is hovering pretty low, as the game is now available for purchase as part of the XBOX360 Games on Demand program, which is widely available today.
The game is available in North America for $19.99 plus local sales tax. There’s no word on when other regions will receive the game on demand.
One of the several problems with the 2006 Sonic was with the game’s loading titles, and it appears that problem has been somewhat rectified. Accounts from users who have purchased the game indicate that loading times have been slashed by only a few seconds with each level. This may be the only improvement on the game.
If you’ve downloaded the game, and you notice anything different about this product–for better or for worse–you can tell us either via the comments section below, or via our News Tips system. Thanks go out to Milo the Echidna for letting us know of the game’s official release via the News Tips section.

my cousin downloaded the game this morning thinking most of the game’s problems were fixed, boy, he is pissed.
It would’ve been nice to make the controls a bit tighter, and the loading times.
The download times are shorter because the game is installed in the HDD lol. You can do that with the actual game – install to the HDD and you’ll see.
your welcome. I finally get credit for a tip!
Quick, someone hack the shit out of it and see if the Rainbow Gem is still there.
Gabsonic raises a good point. This pretty much says that, even if an issue had been ‘corrected’, it’s not as if it was done intentionally. So, honestly, I don’t have much faith that any -other- real issues had been taken care of.
Oh, I really, really want to play a bug free version of this game.
This particular Sonic game… so much potential I feel… it’s a particular Sonic title I trully want to “experience.”
I mean, “experience” without the obvious issues
As a slight correction — the article says “19.99 in North America” but it’s still $24.99 in Canada.
Just a heads-up!
Even so, the game’s still awesome… *awaits for the flaming*
xD
Sorry to let down your expectations of flames, gabsonic, but I agree :p
If the load times for the Games on Demand Sonic 06 are better than the installed-to-hard-drive Sonic 06, I’ll consider a purchase anyway.
I actually enjoyed Sonic 06, despite load times (which were the only negative that bothered me).
The game did have a lot of good points but unfortunately they’re heavily burdened by the bad. I may pop in the game to mess with it again soon, but I won’t be buying it again.
I have said this before and I will say it again. They need to just re-release it with all bugs fixed and loading times along with framerate dips. The main reason the game was like this was cause it was rushed. If they did re-release, maybe they would be able to finally put in that super gem and other things that were in the manual and not the actual game. Frankly, I don’t even care much about the story.
Sonic X brainwashed children.
Even with the glitches and bugs, I still would play this over Sonic Adventure 1. I’m just going to continue to stay far away from Sonic, is all.
Okay… Sonic Unleashed rules!
Werehog@: Sonic Unleashed is the best lol but still Sonic2K is cool too
The loading times were NOT improved. We’ve got two xboxes in my house. I installed the real game to my harddrive, and my brother bought the xbox demand version. On the menu, we loaded loaded a stage at the exact same time, and they both loaded equally.
I wish I could install entire games to my PS3′s HDD.
SU: I don’t agree at all. For me that was the worst game ever created…
I loved this game and Im glad I bought it. <3
