sonic_racingUPDATE: Official Sega Gamescom Page Confirms Presence

The Sumo Digital employee only known on the Internet as S0L has been chatting it up again, and one of his recent comments confirms that Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing should have a presence at GamesCom in Germany, now underway.  Sega’s official Gamescom page has since confirmed that ASR, along with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, are on the show floor.  (This photo from Portuguese site Sega PT helps confirm the latter’s presence, too!)

S0L, a reliable inside source of information, has written on the typically unreliable GameFAQs forums (interestingly referring to the game as SSR, or Sega Superstars Racing) that a member of the SD team will be there, but wasn’t clear on whether the actual title will make an appearance–instead noting that it will be on display at the upcoming Summer of Sonic convention, with S0L in tow:

One of the SSR design team will be there representing us tho! But I will be at Summer of Sonic, where we hope to give people a good solid look at SSR. Maybe even a hands on Hopefully some of you will make it so I can put some faces to names.

As to character discussion, I can’t say anything at the moment as we’ve been asked to keep things under wraps. Sorry!

That latter point was in response to rampant speculation on fan forums regarding who else from the Sonic and Sega communities will show up in ASR.  If the same division lines from Sega Superstars Tennis holds, many believe only one more character from the Sonic realm has yet to be revealed.

We’ll continue to bring you news and notes on ASR and M&S Winter Olympics here at TSSZ News.  As GamesCom shifts into full throttle the next couple of days, the game’s presence at the show floor should be made clear–as will whether the build will be any different than the one shown at E3 or the San Diego Comic-Con.
