Go Skiing and Snowboarding Inside…Finally
It’s finally happened–official video of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games has been released via a new trailer.
The trailer, first posted to IGN, juxtaposes in-game footage with material showing gamers playing–typical for Nintendo’s Wii Would Like to Play ad campaign. In it, you can see how four player skiing pans out with the Wii Balance Board utilized, and you’ll also see Sonic in some halfpipe snowboarding. Bowser gets in on that action too.
Take a look at the new video below, in Quicktime format. You can also download it. We’ll be sure to give you any new details on Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games as it becomes available. Thanks to Pur and Dabbido for letting us know of the information via our News Tips system.

That could potentially be annoying.
SONIC SPEED! NAILED IT! SONIC SPEED! NAILED IT! SONIC SPEED! Not so good on that onSONIC SPEED! Uh-OhSONIC SPEED
…Actually I think I like where this is headed.
Great…. it looks boring and stiff again. Hope future videos are a little bit more interesting than this or I might as well stick to Rayman raving rabbids for snowboarding and stuff.
No surprise for me.
I still think it looks bad, but it doesn’t look thaat bad. Why did they have to skip WM+!? Wii is crap without it.
Well, Sonic sounds as bad as ever. Yippie.
Didn’t look stiff to me. Have you been skiing? Not something you wanna flail around too much during anyhow. I just hope these slopes are half as good/fun as Snowboard Kids (the last snowboard game I thuroughly enjoyed).
Not bad looking.
Woow I really like this game… I don’t know if I should buy a ps3 or a wii (both cheap) I own a Xbox 360 maybe I’ll get the Wii, just to play this game and to play with my new friend Werehog hehe
@SU: I really think you should by a Wii! 360 and PS3 are like the same thing… even if PS3 is better then Wii. But if you want two consoles this generation! One of them have to be a Wii. It’s so different.
And if you by a Wii you can play a lot of Sonic spin offs just like this one!
Werehog@: Yhe I know bro, I think it’s settle I’ll buy a Wii, werehog is S&the secret rings, and Black Knight awsome as they look?
When I buy a Wii I’m thinking of buying immideatily M&SATOWG or S&BK what do you think I should do?
I didn’t like the storybook series, but you like sonic unleashed, right? So you can get MORE sonic unleashed, on the wii! Although it’s not as good.
awesome is all that should and needs to be said
Werehog: I’ve alredy told you that they don’t use WM+ cus the game dosen’t need it! But it’s only good, we don’t have to buy that stupid way too expensive WM+ to play the game. Wii remotes and Nunchuks are alredy too expensive, tehn we have to have this! Wii remote: 60 $, Nunchuck 30 $ Wii motion Plus 30 $
65+35+35=135 $…..that’s too expensive for controlers! And that’s the normal price here where I and Werehog live.
You reallly like WM+ don’t you, well I love you anyway, and you know that.XD
And if anyone didn’t know, I’m a girl.^^
I think it looks fun, since I’ve been having fun with skiing games on my PS2. I really like winter sport games. Other sport games like NHL fifa whatever sucks so hard and it’s incredible boooooring!
But I’m looking forward to this since I like winter sports games much! The other one was good, but I think this will be better!:)
Sonic Unleashed: Do not buy Sonic & the black knight, it’s not so incredible good, fun in the begining then it’s just. Nah, buy secret rings it’s better, so much more speed when you’re upgraded! Awsome upgrades!
@Osnic: Have you already forgot the difference between normal Wiimote and Wiimote with WM+!? Oh Miyamoto… And you have even said that it’s in sport games it’s in most need! And this is a sport game that almost only use motions. They NEED it so much! Now it’s just the normal crappy wiimote motions… oh! Why!? Why!? They think too much about the money!
Anyway, I love you too Osnic!
@Sonic Unleashed: Buy both. They are so cheap you know! And it’s all about the upgrades in these games! Don’t buy the Wii version of SU! You will be disapointed! But anyway, Sonic games are so cheap on wii so you can buy all of them! But the olympic games are really expansive…
Osnic: NHL pwns you.
Yeah, if you haven’t played wii motion plus, you really don’t get how amazing it is. It’s like the PS3 thing, only that doesn’t come out for a year, AND you need to buy the wands AND the camera and it has no nuchuck… so I don’t see the point in getting it unless you only have a PS3.
Thanks Werehog and Thank you to Osnic, I got a last question, I own a PS2 too, should I trade it for a Wii so I it can be cheaper? my only proble is that I own 17 games for the ps2 (games such: Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Sonic Gems C. , Sonic Heroes, SonicRiders, Shadow The Hedgehog, etc…) I like all those Sonic games, should I stick with my ps2 or should I trade it for a Wii and sell these games?
I love Sonic and Sega…and this game looks very amusing coool!
Werehog: Yes I know what WM+ is, and it’s only good for some sports games. But….give me and exampel….were in this game do I need it. I didn’t need it in Rayman Riving Rabbids where you go skiing in something. The only problem there was the tricks in the air cus it was something that I’m toooo lazy to explain.
Games like Wii Sports Resort, it’s needed. But where do you think you have to yse it in this game!?!? Well, I can’t come upp with anything.
From what I’ve seen, they don’t really need it. I’ve played Winter sports games on Wii, you haven’t. And it works fine without, I think it might be something for the first game. Not the winter olympics.
And glem3: Werehog don’t know anything about WM+ how it is to play with it. he have never used it. if you were replying my comment and werehogs there.
Just Passing Through: get a life and understand that not everyone in the world likes the same things as you do.
Okay, I’ll start with skiiing, without wii motion plus, it’ll only be able to tell if you’re tilting while pointing at the screen, because the wii remote will not know it’s orientation without motion plus. And motion plus is just more accurate and better at everything. Wii remote to motion plus is like horse and buggy to car. I dunno the other sports so I can’t talk about those yet.
@SU: I sold my PS2 to buy a Wii and I’m happy that I did it. But if you got good games on your PS2 (which I didn’t) it may not be worth it… So, it depends on how much you like your games. Because they won’t come back if you sell them.
@Osnic: Like our smart friend glem3 here says. It makes a big difference. You can use WM+ almost everywhere if you just think a bit. You know, the normal wii remote sucks and we don’t need it at all. I’m sure SEGA could put in a gamecube controller there and it would be no problems. Just use buttons instead of this simple and pointless shaking.
But if you use the wii motion plus, you can’t use buttons instead! Hey, it’s you own motions!
And I already know that you know this. It’s just that shaking is pointless and boring and that makes this game just more frustrating and not more fun. But anyway, SEGA can make this game pretty good (even if I don’t think so right now). But it’s impossible to make it AWESOME if they don’t use the WM+. Okay, I can’t think it’s awesome without it. Maybe there are someone that loves to shake like a… Wario… Wario likes to shake…
Okay, I know that there are lots of casuals out there that loves to shake and think that they use real motions when they actually don’t.
But I’m not one of them.
Osnic: What, can we no longer state our opinions? You sure did.
