New Video: Presenting Sonic Battle Lost Ending Neo

sc1SFG Plays Fast, Looks Great…and It’s Japanese

If you thought Sonic fan game development was a hobby only the Western world enjoyed, think again.

As it turns out, the far east has a pretty good ace in the hole.  Relatively unknown until today, developer Ututuya, based out of Japan, showed off to SFGHQ forumers Sonic Battle Lost Ending Neo today.  It’s a 2D side scrolling arcade fighter, borrowing concepts from some of the best ones out there–like Street Fighter or The King of Fighters–and adding a Sonic Twist.

The present incarnation features 9 playable characters, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge…and even Omega.  Combos are simple, tag battles are a possibility, and the objective appears simple–beat the crap out of your opponent, in various Sonic themed areas.  You could call it Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Sonic faithful…without all that Nintendo nonsense mucking things up.

There is a demo of Sonic Battle Lost Ending Neo available for download–due to the language barrier, we’ve provided a direct link.  To entice the download, have a look at two videos Ututuya posted. One shows off the team battle more, with another displaying Omega pounding Sonic to smithereens.

The game appears to be a part of a larger SFG development group in Japan called Shadowside, so much more can be expected from the group in the future.  They appear to have an RPG in the cards, so their progress certainly bears watching.

    E-102 Omega? There’s a E-102 Gamma and a E-123 Omega…

    Leave it to the Japanese to come out of seemingly nowhere with something awesome.

    Superfield–I’ve edited the number out of the story. Serves me right for trying to remember numbers.

    Seems to be more in the vein of the Capcom Vs. series than an arcade brawler. Those ridiculous ass combos defineately scream Marvel or even Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. I have to come back on my comp. and give this a download.

    Whoops read the article funny, isn’t it wierd how you see things that are nowhere near what’s actually there? Anywho, still looks more inspired by Capcom Vs. than King of Fighters or Street Fighter.

    Is this fanon or actually a game. I’m actually questioning it because of the elaborate E-123 Sprites

    I managed to beat it all the way to the ACTUAL final boss at 3 in the morning XD

    SPOILERS

    Shadow is overpowered in the fight against him. E-101 Beta was kinda too easy, but Mephiles?…DAMN! I thought I was playing Guilty Gear or something! XD; He was freakin’ tough. ¦D;

    Here are some passwords if you guys want em. In Story Mode, select password, type it in using the game’s keys for the letters of course, then it’ll take you back to the main menu. Go back in and select the character you wanna play as, and you’ll be fighting against the person the password is for.

    E-101 Beta : DDEC

    Start of 2 on 2 : FADC

    Start of 3on 3: ECAC

    Final Boss – Mephiles: BAFB

    Lemme know if any are wrong when you try it. Good luck beating Mephiles without being cheap. XD

    @ Edwin Shy

    Well for Sonic, DF, DF+a = Chaos Control

    D, D+b = Sonic Wind

    And there might be more. But basically, just try to do specials the way you would in other games until you find them all XD That’s all I did ¦D

  15. Wave Kusanagi on September 5th, 2009 5.25 pm

    Ah crap. XD; By D and DF, I mean Down and Down+Foward. Not the actual buttons. Just to make sure you aren’t confused ¦D;
