I have three words: Must Find Sailors
Shenmue is a very divisive game for many gamers who have played it. On one hand, you have a group of people who declare that the game’s slow, methodical pace makes it a chore to play. On the other hand, you have a group of people who proudly declare it’s methodical pace as the entire reason the game is so engrossing – that it really helps draw the player in with a daunting level of realism. Regardless of what opinion you may have on the game, there’s no denying that Shenmue tried to do a lot of things that most games at the time did not even dare to attempt, some of which games today have still yet to explore. It is for this reason that Shenmue will always be remembered. So, journey back with us to November 29th, 1986, in Yokosuka, Japan…

Woow! didnt know it had so much details! I hope he turns out to be in SaSASR!!! nice review guys!
That game looks awesome! And I didn’t even know that it existed untill today! If that game was out there for the Wii right now, I would maybe buy it!
Looks awsome. And I think that you didn’t showed us enough of the fighting gameplay. But good review.
*holding can*
“Ah, Good.”
I’m starting to wonder if I should get this.. It does look kind of fun.
Man I love Shenmue 2….
This game is still relevant despite all the years that have passed. It is an Epic Story that deserves a playable ending. I truly hope SEGA doesn’t make the same mistake of putting a sequel to OutRun 18 years later. I have waited since 2002 for the third installment of the series I am as of now (2009) 33 years old and I hope to play it before I’m 50 years old. Come on SEGA… WE WANT SHENMUE NOW!!!
Hey to everyone!
Massive Shenmue fan here, If you haven’t played it, GET IT! I would wait though, as they are more likely to reappear on PSN or XBOX Live in the next year rather than buy a DC BUT the DC versions are amazing!
It’s original, it’s a masterpiece and the series is the greatest collection of games I have ever played.
The game is slow, but it is like this for a reason to emerse you into the universe. The original can get boring, but when you put it into context, nothing happens in downtown Yokosuka anyways!!
Shenmue 2 on the other hand, when Ryo travels to Hong Kong, is action packed and the best videogame I have ever played.
An incredible, unfinished story that needs to be completed. I honestly believe when you have finished Shenmue 2 you will CRAVE Shenmue 3.
