Thanks to a News Tip just in from Brazilian Hedgehog, we have the first review scores in for Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

They come from Nintendo Power magazine, and for the moment we only have the numbers–and not the actual reviews to back them up just yet.

According to our tipster, the Wii edition of M&S Winter Olympics received a 7 out of 10.  The DS edition fared better, being awarded an 8 out of 10.

The score for the Wii edition is on par with what the Wii edition of Sonic Unleashed received across most gaming media outlets, and a touch higher than the Metacritic average for the Summer Olympic counterpart.

We expect to get more reviews in later this week, when the UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine weighs in.  We’ll also try to track down some details on Nintendo Power’s review.  Thanks to Brazilian Hedgehog again for sending the information in.  If you have news to share, tell us by clicking “News Tips” at the top of every page.

YAY! I was right! I was just like:
AAAAAAAAAAAA SEVEN! And then I saw it and I was right!XD
But it actuallt felt like the DS version was better. It looks better even if it’s a game on a very crappy console.

Osnic: I fail to agree with you on the ‘very crappy console’ part.

My reasons: Professor Layton, The World Ends With You, Ace Attorney, Sonic Rush Adventure and Pokémon Pearl all stare disappointedly at you from my games cupboard.

Okay. No surprise. The game is better compared to the summer olympics, but it’s still the same bad series with just lots of simple mini games. And the DSversion looks better too. It feels like you don’t waste so much money if you buy a small DS game. But if you buy a small Wii game it’s just… not so fun.

Coming from Nintendo, the 7 translates to a 5, and the 8 translates to a 6,

Nintendo Power isn’t really that…inflationary with their reviews anymore. They even rated Twilight Princess LOWER than other magazines.

That said, they are more positive to Sonic than most media. Except for Chronicles, which they under-reviewed.

Umiuri: Tou’re one of those stupid people. DS is a really crappy console. Probably the worst one this generation. It sucks. But it dosen’t mean that it dosen’t ahve some good games. But the DS have maybe 7 good anyway. But the console it self sucks *peep*.

Doctor Eggman: lol, so true. But sometimes it isn’t like that, but it is that most of the times.XD

@Osnic: You’re insane. DS is the best piece of hardware this gen.

Or you’re trolling, in which case, 4/10, if only because you got me to respond.

Sheesh guys the DS is only a handheld, it’s just a lot of rubbish casual-gamer-trough-pots meant to suck said gamers in.

Can’t wait to play this game, surprisingly. I’ll be getting it Wii version though.
