Confirmed Leak of M&S Winter Olympics in Europe

Jack Wallace of Spanish site Sonic Paradise has done some great reporting on the news that Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for the Wii may have been leaked, and he has written in again this evening to tell us he’s confirmed the story.

His published report notes a different site than the ones previously cited.  In this case, another Spanish outlet, WiiSOS, is believed to have a working, legitimate PAL copy of the game.  The site apparently requires registration to download, and as before, we won’t link you exactly to that link.  But the damage may be done–on this leak, WiiSOS shows more than 10,000 visitors to possible grab it up.

To confirm the information, Wallace spoke to members of Spanish forum Sonic Reikai.  One member did note a working link via the Megaupload service, and commented that he played Ice Hockey, and the Radical Highway dream stage.

One noteworthy tidbit on this is the file size of the ISO–it’s about 3.6 GB, as opposed to the 4.4 GB figure previously quoted.  That doesn’t necessarily mean other download links aren’t legitimate.  We are still waiting for the verification results on a download we’ve commissioned, that doesn’t originate from WiiSOS.

That said, we may not need to wait.  TSSZ News has independently received an 8 and a half minute video that all but confirms the leak.  That video is available on YouTube, but it likely won’t be for long.  The game is shown natively in Spanish, which may pinpoint the source of this leak to Spain.  The video also includes the full extended opening FMV, and how mini-game competitions will be framed in three larger games: Panel Flip, Wheel Challenge, and Balloon Attack.  All of this is among many other features in the video.

We are in the process of trying to convert the video locally, and it is our intention to show it to you tomorrow, here on TSSZ News.  For the moment, we have it confirmed both via Sonic Paradise and independently that a leak has occurred for the Wii edition of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games in Europe, and that the leak may quickly be multiplying into several leaks.
