New Launch Trailer Revealed to Celebrate
Though it’s been out in North America for a few days now–and out via less desirable means for several days–today is the official launch day for both editions of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games in Europe.
To mark the occasion, Sega of Europe has released the game’s official launch trailer. It’s more of the same juxtaposition between in-game footage and players controlling them. That video is below for your review.
But that’s not all. The Sega of America community blog today revealed a feature on the Wii that some may not be aware of. Though both editions allow players to change weather conditions on the fly, the Wii version offers a sync with real-time conditions in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, as well as conditions where you live:
If you have your Wii hooked up to the internet, you can select the Vancouver weather to play through the events as if you were really in Vancouver right now! If it’s snowing in Vancouver, it will snow in your game. You can also set your Wii to home weather to replicate the weather in your town at the moment. If you are more into consistency, you can set the weather to always be sunny, snowy, or whatever you prefer.
The feature is sure to add a nice touch to the player experience. If you haven’t picked up the game yet, perhaps the aforementioned video, below, will aid in your decision.

2 things will give me nightmares from this trailer. 1= that man’s laugh. I don’t know it is just weird sounding to me.
2= Bowser figure skating. Shudders! Enough said.
Nintendo does allow games to check the Wii’s Forecast Channel for current info on a specific city, so that means you need to have WiiConnect24 Standby Mode on for this to work.
Hehe, that man was really happy!
just beat the festival mode…it was good
what a great little addition, it wasnt needed, but for fans like me who will play this for aaaages, it will prove invaluable in keeping each play a little different.
thankyou sega (and nintendo)
That guy was so happy.
The voice actor sounds familar…
@sonicsmashkirby
what made it good, the story!
tell me more! tell me more!! <Xo !
Chrissy there isn’t really a story besides just trying to be number 1 at the end what made it good was that it was 16 days(three event’s each day) and that should keep you busy a couple hours and the rivals theme songs great! and over all even the curling is fun and you can give your mii costumes of the rivals and the playble char’s and they went all out with old school fan service in the dream event’s.
omg wii adverts……………………… just …….. lets just say they are payed to act like that! (also retarded) :-O
