Social Networking Blitz Suggests Super Sonic Songs Tie-In
If the Tweets and Face-spaces are anything to believe, Crush 40 has reached a deal with the digital publishing arm of Philadelphia based Ozone Entertainment to bring some of the group’s songs to the Rock Band Network.
The Twitter feed of Ozone Radio affirms a commitment of four C40 songs to the Rock Band Network, with an announcement on Crush 40’s Facebook page proclaiming the effect of “stay tuned.” Despite the cryptic nature of the latter post, a deal appears done, with the Ozone Radio head posting on the Rock Band Network forums of the “huge acquisition,” and that the songs posted will tie in with the new CD release. That release is Super Sonic Songs, which will be out next week.
The network hasn’t rolled out yet, but when it does–and that’s expected to be sometime soon–owners of various Rock Band games on the XBOX 360 will be able to use the network as a DLC hub of sorts. It is on the RBN that the Crush 40 tracks will be available to download, purchase, and play in the games. For the moment, the RBN will be XBOX360 exclusive, but plans are to eventually roll it out to the Playstation 3, and perhaps the Nintendo Wii.

It should be noted that the 4 songs that are going to appear in Rock Band has already been chosen, but can’t be announced to the public yet until Jun finishes and hands over the paperwork. Ozone mentions that all 4 songs were handpicked by Jun himself, and that the songs were carefully chosen in order to provide a pretty difficult but fun challenge. Ozone claims that one of the songs will be pretty nerve wrecking on the guitar, and the only song I can see doing that is either “Open Your Heart” or “What I’m Made Of…”.
that’s actually pretty awesome! I always wanted some Crush 40 on Rock Band and now we’re getting it! I hope Live and Learn will be on it
YES!!!!
Thats freaking awesome!! YES
City Escape please?
City Escape isn’t a Crush 40 song.
Frankly, I think we’ll get Is It You and probably Live and Learn as a couple. Perhaps another Sonic song, and another non-Sonic song.
YUS!! YUS!!!!! FIKKINYYUUUUSSSSS!!!!
(“Yus” Is a way of saying yes in a VERY pleased manner)
(but not that pleased)
…
(If you know what I mean lol)
@ Soul Gauge
That “Yus” actually reminds me of Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 when you got to the goal ring or where in the chao garden in picked something up and he said “YOSH!”
Am I the only one who sees that?
^Yeah, I saw it too… That’s probably where I got it from too, but when I’m generally pleased, it’s “yus”.
An if I had to choose the songs that are most likely to make it… I’d say:
Live and Learn
Open Your Heart/Knight of the Wind
What I’m Made Of
I Am… All Of Me/His World
Actually, now that I re-read the plans for the Wii and PS3, I’ll assume the Wii exclusive would have Knight Of The Wind, 360 would have His World, and PS3 would have I Am… All of Me cause it’s dark like the PS3, lol.
@Soul Gauge: Lol, you couldn’t choose 4 so you put ‘I Am (All of Me)’ and ‘His world’ together? And open your heart and Knight of the wind for that matter…
I would have to.
How are you supposed to choose between such awesomness?
Personally, I can see Live and Learn, Open your Heart and What I’m Made Of being in there.
@Tails: Well, the fact that there’s going to be four, might be the case.
Live and Learn
Open Your Heart
What I’m Made Of…
I Am… All Of Me/His World/Knight Of The Wind
Okay, last I speak of the list.
@Soul Guage: It doesn’t work that way. Just because it changes consoles doesn’t mean they can just change the song at will. The 4 songs scheduled to appear on RBN, along with the other mass of other charted songs written up by rhythm author, will first be an Xbox 360 exclusive in order to make full use of the Audition Mode feature on Rock Band 2, which can only be accessed by the XNA Creators Club. From there, after the Rock Band Network is released on that console, Harmonix will review the songs and if it makes a great sale it’ll be passed over to other consoles either as RBN (PS3) or as a basic DLC (Wii). That means no changes to the choice of songs by the artists other then adding more to the 360 first. Besides, it would be unfair to see certain tracks on certain consoles that the others can’t get.
What? I’m sorry…. What?
Crush 40 is now going to become a household name as such as Kiss, Green Day, and the Rejects?
I must be dreaming. I must’ve stepped into the Twilight Zone.
@Greg: We can only hope. We can only hope..
But still the songs i’d like to hear in Rock Band would be these four:
Open Your Heart
Revvin Up
With Me (although it’s a remake)
Watch Me Fly
@Azukara: But I really wasn’t saying that in joy… I’m actually a little disappointed that Crush 40 is going to become a household name. Because their stuff is glam lyrics. Their stuff doesn’t rock as hard as this fanbase believes.
My god, I really can’t believe this. Sombody pinch me. Tell me this isn’t real.
Yay!
@Greg
Crush 40 won’t suddenly become as popular as a band like Green Day just because it’ll appear in a popular videogame. Especially because there are hunderds of DLC songs for Rock Band
@Greg: It’s going to take a lot more than DLC content on a popular game to make Crush 40. Sure, they’ll be noticed a lot more this time around, but, just like how “Still Alive” and the Spongebob tracks are on Rock Band, it’s mainly only targeted towards the fans who like those kinds of songs. If it makes them happy, let them be happy.
Meant to say “To make Crush 40 a household name.”
I want a full on Rock Band: Sonic.
I want doesn’t mean I’ll get though.
This is best written article I’ve read on this story. You actually did some research instead of the typical “Oh dude, I totally saw their Facebook wall.” Kudos.
I hope you guys enjoy the songs when they come out. And if these sell well enough, perhaps Jun could be convinced to release more tracks.
Guess I’ll finally be getting one the plastic instrument bandwagon.
