Themed Track Hinted at, but Not Confirmed
It appears we’ll get new information on the role of Ryo and Shenmue in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing–and perhaps about the state of Shenmue itself–over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Those are the hints coming from the Shenmue Dojo forums and one of its members, Rom of French gaming site JV 24/7, who claims to have interviewed Sumo Digital’s Craig Duncan about ASR. He can’t disclose anything until November 26th–that’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States–but when he can (presumably on his website,) it may be a very bountiful Thanksgiving for new information on the game.
In particular, Rom told forumers he did ask Shenmue specific questions, and though visual cues hinted that a Shenmue themed track will complement Ryo and his motorbike, it was not totally confirmed:
He [Duncan] wouldn’t say if there will be a Shenmue race track (but he had a big smile on his face while he said that). But I think you’ll be pleased with some of the stuff he said.
Rom did note the versions of ASR he played while at Sumo Digital did not yet have Ryo playable. He also mentioned the somewhat forgotten Nintendo DS edition of the game, still in development–and apparently with characters programmed on it that haven’t yet been announced. No clarification was made on whether those characters would be exclusive to the handheld edition.
