ASR to Get RC, Slot Car Treatment

sonic_racingRelease with Game’s Launch Next Year

If the news of the figurines wasn’t enough to satisfy your action figure appetite for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, perhaps a more appropriate forum would suffice…like radio-controlled cars, and slot car models.

That, too, will be a part of the marketing blitz for ASR, as it’s been announced that racing toy specialist NKOK will be making special sets based on the series.  There are no pictures yet, but both the RC and slot car models will be available to coincide with the game’s launch, which is still slated for early next year.

Many may be familiar with radio controlled racing, but slot cars are a bit different…and more competitive.  Slot cars have pins or blades extruding from the bottom.  The car is are placed within a groove on a specially designed track.  From there, it links to a power area, that links to players’ handheld speed devices.  Those devices are what’s used to get power to the cars on the track.  Varying levels of power can be applied to the car, and it’s a good thing, because going too fast into a sharp curve could spell disaster.

Slot car racing has become more of a niche hobby in recent decades, though competitions around the world in the sport do occur.
