[...] The Tangent: Christmarch, a.k.a. Giftmas II Capcom showed some sanity, delaying some of its releases past the March catastrophe. There may be several smaller titles announced and on store shelves between then and now, particularly with Nintendo’s recent strategy of surprise releases, but now that Giftmas has passed, we’ve probably seen the bulk of the major title announcements set to hit March. Interestingly, as of this writing, Yakuza 3 still lacks a definite date in the US. Just passing the 10th anniversary of Shenmue’s release, maybe there’s a glimmer of hope for Kazuma yet.
Treleus, I can't say what the developers will do, I can only hope they find good excuses to push back their lower-key releases.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding solid sales information on the original Yakuza, but it was an expensive localization effort with full voice acting and heavy promotion, and I know it was seen as a failure. Yakuza 2 was released with little advertising and the original Japanese voice track, and still only managed about 40,000 units in the US, accord to 1up. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3175369 Overall, it was bad enough that back in July they denied they were going to release the third installment in the US at all.

What are the chances some (or more) publishers will simply sidestep this Christmarch Crunch and wait until the summer months (or even May) to release their games? Would that not serve as a potential equalizer?

Also, how badly did Yakuza sell?
